“Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?”
One word I can think of right now for Aditya Birla Group is ubiquitous. And the journey starts with getting a call from my mother on my Vodafone network. The transition from Hutch to Vodafone in 2007, to the merger of Aditya Birla’s Idea and Vodafone in 2018, the name Vodafone has been synonymous with my everyday functioning and is now my main source of connection with people around me. When I see buildings around me I think of tons of Ultratech cement used for construction. And How can I forget about my lunchbox with Freshwrap, gazillion number of aluminum foils are in the market but the trust is on it. When I was coming for my MBA and I needed formals, where else I could go other than Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England. And meanwhile, my sister is looking for clothes in pantaloon, Forever21.
Aditya Birla Group as a group isn’t just reflecting on individuals in their personal lives but also has businesses across multiple domains. Aditya Birla Group has covered all aspects you can think of and has become part whether you're shopping, constructing, talking on the phone, talking about mutual funds. All these just show how ABG has grown from a small business into a Mammoth conglomerate.
“How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?”
I still remember the day when I was asked to give a speech in school. I was all prepared and excited; I practiced the speech so many times, but when that moment came, I started stuttering, my mouth went dry, my hands and legs were shivering. Because of this bad experience, I stopped taking part in extracurricular activities. On top of that, I come from a place where English was not taught and encourage daily. I spent my childhood, my prime years in fear of stage speaking and talking in English. When you start thinking about your future goals and ambitions, you tend to keep the Pros on the higher priority side and try to overlook the negatives, which sometimes leads to disappointments. When I was doing my graduation I realized my fear is becoming a big obstacle and hindering my growth. Fear is a fact of life, and those who have learned to conquer their fear are the ones who go far. With this thought in my mind, I started pushing myself a bit and I started taking part in various activities(during my graduation). I took part in the Dramatics Club, which helped me with my stage fear. My friends and professors helped me on this journey. I then became head of hospitality club where I had to interact with people outside campus in English. I used to stutter in the beginning, but with the time my English speaking improved and fear also was less dominant. I became a member of the T&P club which was the placement cell in my college. I became comfortable in talking with people of various companies. People started appreciating me for my work. This made me confident. When I joined Infosys I had to deal with people of various cultures, But now I'm so confident that I take part in all activities that come in my way. I realized on thing from my experience:" Life Begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
