It is about year 2016. It was a great year. I was selected as the Joint Secretary of Students’ Executive Body of my graduation college. We were preparing day and night for the annual corporate seminar of the college. I managed to arrange for Mumbai Dabbawalas as one of the guest speakers for the event. This was appreciated a lot by faculty and students. Hence, this event was close to my heart and I was looking forward to it. I was so excited to buy a business suit for this event. I searched for the same online as well as visited some brands offline but struggled to find a suit for myself. However, the market was flooded with business suits for men.
But then I came across ‘Allen Solly’. To my surprise, the store of Allen Solly in City Centre, Rohini, Delhi had everything for women! I could choose from a variety of suits. The fact that here I was getting the option of choosing when other brands didn’t have formal wear for women is what makes Aditya Birla Group so special. The group is empowering women. It is supporting women to reach at the top of the organization. It believes that there will be demand for formalwear for women and hence making the products available.
My journey from not being a part of Students’ Executive Body in the first year of graduation to holding the position of Joint Secretary in the second year was about overcoming my inhibitions and fears. I didn’t apply for the student body during first year because of my fear of failure. But I contributed to its activities and events. I was the only person to get a sponsor for one of the events organized by the society. This is when I gained confidence. Hence, I applied for the position of Senior Executive in the second year of graduation and I got elected by maximum votes. This time too, I didn’t apply for higher level roles such as General Secretary, again because of my fear of failure. I contributed to the best of my abilities, not restricting myself to the role of Senior Executive only. Eventually, because of my impressive contributions, I was being promoted to the post of Joint Secretary by the faculty and fellow team members on account of the post being vacant due to some reasons. This incident made me realize that my fear was insignificant. It helped me overcome my fears.
All of these thoughts came in my mind when I entered the college on the day of the corporate seminar in the blue Allen Solly suit. That day I was confident in my abilities and had no fears. I could relate myself to Allen Solly’s vision of "My World, My Way". Now, I have a strong individualistic view that I own my world. Over time, as Allen Solly has become synonymous with being a brand that has always catered to the free-spirited, similarly I became a person who isn’t afraid to do things differently and stand out in a crowd.
