About two weeks into IIFT, and it’s already shaping to be the longest, yet the most fun-filled and eventful two weeks of my life.
The week-long Parichay seemed to have thrown us into the pool without teaching us how to swim. For a person like me, without any work experience, nothing could have provided a more hands-on insight into the functioning of the Corporate world. It was hard for me, as it would have been for the entire batch, but a diamond cannot shine until it has gone through the grind. The uniquely designed structure of the programme ensured that each group activity had distinct groups – enabling us to know almost our entire batch in just 6 days.
As tensions eased and we began our academic session, I got to explore the campus and found some interesting facts about the place.
As one enters through the main gate, there is a downward sloping ramp that leads to the “Wings of Wisdom” and thereafter and upward ramp takes one to the academic block. For me, it signifies the initial descent of humankind into the darkness of ignorance, putting on the Wings of Wisdom and soaring high with the power of knowledge…
Knowledge of the Universe is an infinite measure, and IIFT has, within its walls, knowledge on innumerable functional and managerial disciplines and languages, with a special emphasis on foreign trade.
Talking about the courses here, there is a domain for almost every student. It reminds me of a few lines from the Bible:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
