Born and brought up in western Mumbai, right in the epicenter of the city, Andheri, I have not only been accustomed to the roads developed using UltraTech Cement, but also the standing evidence of the 5.6-kilometer-long Bandra - Worli Sea Link, constructed in the Arabian Sea, supported by UltraTech pillars, which helps to connect the city of Mumbai, wonderfully. Having my family office and maternal family residing in South Mumbai, using the sea link has been mandatory while travelling, as it provides my family and me with convenience, safety and reduction in our journey time. UltraTech Cement has been the backbone during this ambitious infrastructural construction and fueled the development of strong pillars to endure the raging waves of the Arabian sea. The most congested city of Mumbai was provided with a huge helping hand as this route reduced the massive forty minutes of travel from Bandra to Worli to only ten minutes. Moreover, having my home right outside a metro station, on the Versova - Ghatkopar metro route, I started considering to visit the shopping mall located at Ghatkopar, exclusively because of the development of metro and simultaneously, getting comfort and saving upon my time. The journey time came down from one hour to twenty-five minutes. I also see my father commuting to work, solely by the metro, every single day and when asked about his views, the three words which are always spoken about are, quick, safe and relaxing. Helping and serving approximately 3-4 lakh commuters each day, UltraTech has not only made Mumbaikars lives more comfortable, but also helped every single being travel faster, helping them have a better quality of life in this fast-paced city.
Moreover, shifting to how I overcame some challenges, which reminds me of a loss in my family due to leukemia just a day before my 10th-grade boards’ commencement date. When I was informed about this, I was indeed speechless, but, I made sure that I became the pillar of strength for my family and pushed myself to strive harder to give my best foot forward in my board exams. I went on to not only score 7A*s out of 8 subjects in my IGCSE Boards, but also was awarded Commendation and Proficiency awards, and the smile on my parents’ faces was impeccable. Also, I suffered through various back problems in my 12th grade and from that very day, I worked towards my health and diet, in complete consciousness. To achieve what I wanted from life and to acquire my goals, I had to prioritize my health before it could worsen. During under graduation, I wanted to develop my personality in terms of being more confident, a good team player and also learning from others, but, while working in a committee as the Vice-Chairperson, I realized that every person has a different viewpoint to different events and discussions. Undoubtedly, some issues came up, but we made sure that we came down to the best solution as a team for our committee’s growth. We bagged the Best Student Chapter Award which reinforced a sense of responsible leadership and self-confidence within me. Every passing day, I wake up with the same and certainly, a more rejuvenated mind to live optimistically, reflect upon my recent improvement areas and keep dreaming, as I know that whatever obstacle comes in my way, I am the only one responsible to find a way out to achieve what I want to, every single day. Certainly, every challenge in life has not only taught me to adapt and learn but also added to the strength required for me to achieve what I aspire for.
