The pursuit of any goal in life involves challenges. Very few lucky people achieve their dream by facing minimal or no challenge. Challenges make you capable of facing hardship and getting through them. It is often said that we should never wish for an easy life but wish for the strength and ability to get through the difficulties in life. I too believe in this line of thought.

I believe challenges help you identify your weaknesses and give you an opportunity to work on them. They also help you to identify and empathize with other’s weaknesses and challenges. In other words, it helps you understand people and their lives better.

I too faced challenges in achieving the goals in my life. I overcame them by sheer resilience and determination. Some challenges are short-lived, and you overcome them with little effort and time. But some challenges are tedious, and they make you question your abilities and confidence. When facing such challenges, we must not lose hope even in case of failure. We failed because we might still be lacking somewhere. We must start again, try to identify our weaknesses and try again.

My journey to achieve my ambitions was filled with highs and lows, with some short-lived challenges and some challenges that I had to fight through. I scored 86.46% in my 10th Boards, which was not less but was below my expectations of scoring 88-89%. Since I was young at that time, scoring low in exams also felt like a huge setback. I couldn’t get admission in the college of my choice and had to settle for something that I had not planned for. But every cloud has a silver lining. It turned out that since the college that I got into was very near to my house, it helped me save time and prepare for my next challenge, i.e. 12th boards better. I prepared for my 12th boards and entrance exams with more interest and determination than before. I achieved my goals this time and even surpassed my own expectations. I scored 81% in boards and got a good rank in the entrance exams. This helped me secure a seat in KJ Somaiya College of Engineering, one of the best engineering colleges in Mumbai. I got placed in Newgen Software Technologies as a Software Engineer through campus placements.

But the struggle didn’t end there. My ambition to pursue MBA was still not complete. This too wasn’t easy. I failed many times. But this time the challenges did not break me or make me lose confidence in myself. I knew I had to take these failures as a challenge or give up my ambition to pursue MBA. Finally, my efforts bore fruit and I got the opportunity to study in one of the most prestigious MBA institutes- Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

I think I am only halfway through my journey to achieve my goals and ambitions. I am sure the other half of the journey will also have a lot of challenges. I hope to overcome these challenges with determination and sincere efforts.
