It is said “When the going gets tough, the tough get going". Challenges form a part of each and every initiative and goals we set for our progress and sometimes, or, for some people mere survival becomes the challenge. But our outlook, mindset and approach we undertake to overcome these challenges, stay with us forever and shape our personality.
I grew up learning from my parents, when they faced a financial setback in late 90s, and emerged out of it victorious, without letting it hamper the upbringing and education of their children. Right from the beginning, this episode shaped me to live my life with humility.
Coming to me, it always has been the hard phase of rejection, and the time that follows. It has been a turbulent ride starting from my stint trying to enter into a prestigious engineering institute, cracking the most competitive engineering entrance examinations, up till the admission into a prestigious management institute, following a gruelling admission process. I worked hard for my engineering entrance exams, but failed, then got a job after multiple rejections and finally entered into one of the top business schools of the country, after a roller coaster journey of 3 years. But one thing, that stayed with me was my aplomb and humility. I was dejected many times but never let the failure took over my spirit to keep moving on. Sometimes, you need to accept your failures, because what seems to be an endless struggle, often forms the way for something vivid and better. Let bygones be bygones, and, I acknowledge the fact the life is a name to millions of possibilities with every new day being a second chance, and, it is in our hands to embrace the new opportunities. Trying new things and looking for alternative approaches helps, this is what I have experienced. But the ultimate target should be an open and peaceful mind, because many times it is our mind which creates problems, which in reality don’t exist, and this is when mindfulness, reading, social relationships etc are the solutions to combat the negative by-products of an overthinking mind.
Today I am determined, no matter what it takes I will always aim high and work hard to achieve my goals, learning from failures and trusting the process. Everything is transient in nature and ultimately things do change, because it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
