How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far’

Everybody in their life, right from the childhood has some ambitions or develops some while growing up and wants to achieve it someday or the other. I, too, had the ambition to crack CAT/NMAT or for that matter clear any b-school entrance exams and get into a respected and one of the top b-schools in India. But just scoring marks was not the only criteria to enter a b-school, another aspect of evaluation is the Group Discussion (GD) and the Personal Interview (PI) rounds which used to scare me a lot. This was so because I was not so fluent in English speaking. Content or knowledge was not the issue, the issue was delivering those content in front of people. Therefore, right after my exams, I took tuition for GD and PI preparations but because of my speaking problems I could really speak up and kept on losing confidence. But still as I had to enter a b-school and this was a mandatory requirement I kept on practicing alone in my room in front of the mirror. I used to take any book and kept reading out aloud to myself, randomly select any topic and started speaking on it and also used to record it so as to understand where am I exactly lacking so that I can put my major focus on that part. Finally, after a lot of hassle, I got over my problem of English speaking and was able to get into NMIMS.
