Aditya Birla Group has been a part of this nation since 1857, 90 years before India’s independence. It has been a household name for greater part of a century now and has affected all living souls in India during some part of their lives. And I am no exception. Aditya Birla Group, its brands and products have been a part of me through all walks of life until now. In 1997 the year I was born, ABG launched Peter England which marked the “Beginning of Good Things” and eventually went on to become the largest selling men’s clothing brand in the country. It in a way set a precedent to my life. Similarities were drawn between me and the brainchild of Aditya Birla Group. Just like my twin, Peter, I was prophesied to be smart yet casual and sharp yet comfortable to stay with. At the age of five in the year of 2001 when I joined school and had my first lunch outside home in a plastic tiffin box, it was kept warm by a silver foil manufactured by the newly acquired Anupama Foils Limited, a new addendum to the Aditya Birla Group. The significant event of me joining school and Kumar Mangalam Birla joining in as the chairman coincided in the same year of 2001, yet again making Aditya Birla Group an inextricable part of my life. The transition from a lower middle-class family to an upper middle-class family was made possible through the financial inclusion led by Aditya Birla Capital and its efforts in strengthening NBFCs. In process making theirs the third largest NBFC in the country. The definition of formal clothes has been shaped by Louis Philippe and Peter England. The choice of perfectly priced cellular network connections with a surety of cyber safety was made possible by the merger of Vodafone- Idea, protecting the market from a monopoly in a highly privacy sensitive market. Aditya Birla Group has had a significant impact on me and millions of other Indians with its trustworthy brands and products.
Aditya Birla Group comprises of nine subsidiaries which work in several industries and comprises of 1,20,000 employees. The sheer veneration of the ABG group empowers its employees and other stakeholders to take on challenges without any fear of repercussions. These ethos of ABG group have affected me and helped me overcome the challenges I have faced in life. I am 22 years old and on a broader scale of observation these 22 years have passed without any major challenges when compared to other unfortunate people I have met and got inspired from. But, at a closer inspection I realize that there have been challenges and obstacles in my life which took enough courage and determination to overcome them. One such challenge I have faced is the fear of public speaking. During my high-school and junior college I sneaked away from any chance of public speaking. The fear of public speaking had built up to a level which then converted into stammering whenever I had to deliver a speech to an audience. In my first year of engineering I decided to overcome this challenge and not let the fear of public speaking take over me. I developed an extensive reading habit which created a knowledge base for confidently delivering a note in public and started participating in inter-college competition. In a span of one year I overcame the challenge and triumphed my fear by winning a paper presentation competition and a national level business competition.
