"Practice makes perfect", is an incorrect statement. Practice doesnot make one perfect rather it makes one better. She believed that if you attained the level of perfection then you stop learning. So,she wakes up with the sun, eyes all puffed up but full of life. She knows that she only has 24 hours to make it worthwhile. She changes into sweatshirt by Ajile, with Believe etched in black colour, ties her hair into a ponytail and walks out of her room looking for the thing that drives her in the morning. They were there, right on top of the shoe rack, sneakers with Forever Glam etched in golden colour. The shoes and sweatshirt made the perfect gear to dance her way into the day. She was not perfect. She was not professional. But she never stopped. She was always practicing. She was getting better. She was me.

I am a small town girl with dreams to perform on stage. I had hit rock bottom when I was not selected in a dance group for being too chubby. That was a blow to the self-esteem because I got rejected for a non-dance reason. So, I practiced and practiced. Now, I am someone who has always been drawn to music and moved on the beat. I resonated more with the HipHop and Krump music. I bought those sneakers from Forever Glam after winning my first dance competition. Things turned around when I went for my under graduation. We formed a team and practiced mornings, evenings and nights. We participated in every battle and competition possible. It made me more confident and I started believing in myself. Soon, I became the first few people to do Urban dance form in the state.  I had transformed more than I can imagine and respected the journey more than the destination.

But it is 2019 now. My battlefield, to prove myself is the same, but my choice of weapon has changed. The girl who used to put on sweatshirts and sneakers has entered the business world now. I am an MBA student. In retrospect, there has been this inhibition of being accepted by the society. But not anymore. Instead of my sneakers, I drive on Allen Solly or Van Heusen formals. Because you don't dress for the job you have, you dress up for the job you want. Now, everytime I suit up, I see the girl who has the confidence in her eyes, believes in herself and does not give up.
