Premankur Roy played a pivotal role in MAXI, the Marketing Association of XLRI, leading the partnerships and sponsorships vertical during his MBA. He contributed to the organization of MAXI Fair, a disguised research fair for FMCG companies, where 10,000+ residents of Jamshedpur participated. Leading a team of 15 members, Premankur's experience was not only exciting but provided insights into working on a large scale with a unique idea. In terms of leadership development, Premankur emphasizes the importance of active listening. His exposure to lectures, case discussions, project presentations, and committee work has enhanced his listening skills. Working for MAXI and playing music in the band Bodhi Tree taught him to be flexible with ideas, open to feedback, and accepting of others' opinions. He envisions applying these skills in a corporate setting, emphasizing the importance of listening in understanding clients, senior briefings, team concerns, and consumer feedback.
Premankur plans to leverage his MBA skills by taking a holistic approach, drawing on cross-functional and cross-industry synergies. His ability to look at a problem from multiple managerial perspectives contributes to his strategic and cross-disciplinary approach.
His preferred industry is Sales & Marketing in FMCG or FMCD companies, with a particular interest in companies like HUL, Dabur, ITC, P&G, Nestle, and Asian Paints. His internship experience at Dabur in the S&M function of their Modern Trade team fueled his passion for retail and understanding consumer behavior. Premankur sees himself as a great fit for an FMCG major, given his performance in related courses and active involvement in the Marketing Association of XLRI.
Premankur's approach to teamwork centers on fostering an environment for varying opinions with a common goal. He values diverse working styles and perspectives, recognizing that the end goal is the betterment of the project or task.
