PART A: "ABG touches millions in the world"

Hailing from the textile city of India, SURAT, I have always been surrounded by words like cotton, wool, silk, jute & fiber. Well to be honest, I have always been fond of wearing unique clothes. I remember the day before the first interview of my life for TCS. In search of buying my first pair of formal clothes, I entered the “Pantaloons” showroom in Surat. I was amazed by the fabric of brands like Van Heusen and Louis Philippe. I attended my first interview in a slim fit Van Heusen Cotton White Shirt and a crisp Jet Black trouser. From that day, I have been vehemently addicted to Van Heusen. Since 2011, I have been staying away from my parents be it, for Graduation or Work Experience in TCS. Well, being away from home was not quite a big deal as I had an Idea Simcard with me through which I used to Facetime my parents. Being an Indian, one ought to be fond of festivals. Idea helped me enjoy those festivals while being away from my hometown. Even while I was in rural area for 4 years, Idea’s strong network connectivity ensured that home was never far away and my family was always just a snap away. Aditya Birla Group has been connected to my life in one or the other way. From the clothes that I wear to the simcard that I use, it has been there all around.

PART B: "Challenges are what makes life interesting & overcoming them is what makes life meaningful"

While I was working for an Aerospace client at Tata Consultancy Services, I was assigned with a task of developing a Visual Basic Application tool for reducing offshore activity cycle time. Being a Mechanical Engineer, my coding knowledge was very scant. Not to be easily bogged down, I took it upon myself to get trained from scratch. I started with the basics of VBA through the TCS internal e-courses. Then, as I became comfortable with the nitty-gritties of VBA language, I integrated the actual problem statement with the applications of VB in order to understand its feasibility. Once the feasibility check was done, I started developing the tool and within 3 months I prepared the VBA tool. The tool helped to save 400 Man-Hours at offshore and, in turn, saved approximately 10000 USD for the client. Consequently, I was awarded with a Green Belt for implementation of Lean Six Sigma. This proved to be the biggest challenge put forth in my professional career. I consider this as my biggest achievement because it was a great lesson to learn that if one shows interest and perseverance in learning new concepts, success is bound to arrive.
