Only a few days had past in our one in a lifetime experience of studying in IIM Rohtak and we were asked to prepare for a case which would be taught by the director himself.
The case “Windigo” had been written by the director itself, which made us even more scared and anxious. We were all new to the case study pedagogy and had read the case and had done minor calculations. As soon as the class began with the whole batch sitting together, we were pelted with analytical questions. We were able to reply to a few but the depth to which it had gone, it amazed me.
The case was about the airline industry where a company was in a dilemma as to continue with its no frill policy or to enter the premium segment. We had calculated what changes would happen due to the loss in customers not served. But Director Sir, started taking factors such a weight of the sack cart, air hostesses, their luggage. Seeing the complexity of the situation made me introspect and question our myopic thought process. Every thing about the class was a benchmark. The way all the students were handled, role playing and humour in between, made it one of the best lectures I have attended so far. The way he taught the value addition of the premium services and what are it’s advantages and disadvantages has been stuck to our heads. That day, I felt, now I know everything about marketing in the airline industry and I fear nothing now.
I have always looked forward to further lectures with our director since then and now I try to keep that case in the back of my head and solve cases. Thinking, how our director would have approached it.

Since the time I have been exposed to the Financial industry, I have always been attracted towards it. Throughout my graduation, I had taken part and organised in multiple fests related to finance. This industry is informative and always asks more from you. If one is not up to the mark, others will overtake you. Hence, I feel, I would be able to learn a lot more about the industry from this established division of Aditya Birla Group and would also be able to provide my inputs and help the company become a leading company in the world.
