While scores of campuses across the country offer world class infrastructure and facilities – well-stocked libraries, sports complexes, multimedia classrooms – the campus of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management provides an experience like no other. Well, how often can students claim to count misty clouds as company during classes?
Nestled atop lush hills overlooking the city of Pune, far away from its hustle and bustle, our campus fosters the spirit of holistic and environmentally-conscious study. Snakes (rat snakes and vipers), scorpions, leeches, chameleons and insects of all sizes call this campus their home. For former city dwellers, living in close proximity to these creatures would have been unthinkable but now, due to the spirit of inclusiveness and contemplation on campus, the fear of the students transforms into care.
Before the daily 7 AM rendition of "Vande Mataram" over the hostel PA system, birds of every hue mark the start of the day with their chirping and song. If the books (and the professors) exert a little too much pressure, the constant but gentle breeze and the breath-taking views of the valley are enough to calm the senses. If this wasn’t enough to make the campus unique, what about the fact that the campus was designed to conserve natural resources? Solar panels power most buildings while a rain harvesting project ensures that no drop of rain-water goes to waste. In fact, the outcome of this project, the Symbiosis Reservoir, is there for all to see from the famous Aqua Point. The reservoir stores nearly 30,000 crore litres of water!
The sight of students zooming by downhill (and labouring uphill) on the community bicycles is enough to remind me that the SIBM Pune campus is like no other.
An Aditya Birla Group Company I Would Love to Work for
If given an opportunity, I would love to work for Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL), India’s No. 1 fashion lifestyle entity. Given the ubiquity of Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England, it would be interesting to know what goes behind the scenes while creating these brands, their products and retailing these products. Moreover, the learning offered by the group’s retail spectrum, from Pantaloons on one end and The Collective on the other, would be immense.
