The impact of Aditya Birla Group in my life

The first introduction to Aditya Birla Group for me was in the form of UltraTech Cement. As a child, I always associated word Birla with cement. The yellow buildings with yellow shutters and the picture of rising sun logo has been a constant view on roadsides throughout my childhood. One thing to remember from my childhood days is opening the lunch box and finding the hot and lovely food prepared by my mother. What made the food tasty is my mother’s cooking but what kept the food hot was Freshwrapp. The second time I was introduced to Aditya Birla Group when my sister with whom I lived all my first 15 years of life moved to Pune. Moving out as a girl in 2005 was something that made both parents and me worried about her safety all the time. That is when she got her first mobile and an Idea connection. That was when Aditya Birla Group helped me to stay connected to my family. Then came the time for placements in my engineering college, so I turned to the person I rely the most for career related advice, my cousin brother. The reply I got were simply 2 words - Peter England. Although I tried many brands the result was what my brother and many more have experienced, Peter England, as can be clearly seen from the fact that they have been consistently voted for 7 years as the top 5 most trusted brands in apparel category. When I look behind on all such experiences I realize that all these experiences have been possible due to a single name – Aditya Birla Group.

The challenges I had to overcome in my life

Since early childhood I was an academically average student. I was right in the middle of the class in any test or exam, always scoring the constant 65. I did not have much issues with subjects but was unable to produce a genuine interest in anything. I started to realize the implications of bad score when I reached grade 10. I realized that if I don’t start taking concrete decisions, my life will not be in my control anymore and that was something I could not tolerate. So, I started to study seriously and to the shock of my teachers, I did a constant improvement in my scores. From an average student I started to approach the class toppers. I developed an interest in science and maths which made me realize that I should take engineering. Again, I was told that I should not take science as it is a very competitive field and to get into top engineering colleges like IITs and NITs you need to reach the top 1% of country. Rather than looking at it from a negative perspective I took it as a challenge. Started preparing for exam while ignoring the negative comments of peers and relatives. When result came I got into top 1% and reached NIT Kurukshetra, while scoring 92+ in board exams. Repeated same in college and stayed in top 20 of college. Now that I look back at my past, it might not be something spectacular for school toppers. But for me, who was an average student in school, it was rising above the negative environment around me and overcoming the challenge to take control of my life.
