Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
There is a saying “Dress for the job and life you want”. Since childhood, I had always liked the winter season, not because I liked the weather but because it gave me an opportunity to wear the blazer in the school uniform. I have always been attracted towards the idea of wearing a suit. It gave me the aspirations to be better than the everyday citizen of this country, sit in one of the corner offices of those tall skyscrapers and take important decisions in a jiffy. Being always attracted to the corporate jungle, I started my career at Infosys right after my graduation. I remember buying my first office suit from Peter England. When I sat for my orientation, on the first interaction with my mentor, I remember him praising my two-piece. It felt like a moment to shine and it gave me the confidence to face the corporate life with full enthusiasm. I realise that I started my career with this confidence and it was a result of Aditya Birla Group. This incident made me loyal to the brand. Further having moved on to Louise Philippe for my formal requirements, I know that the brands of the group are something that I can trust on. Furthermore, when I start my corporate career after my MBA, I wish to try Van Heusen and as, each of these brands have added some value to my life, I feel that Aditya Birla has always contributed to something big and something positive in my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
What’s a life without ups and downs. Even I have had my share of challenges in my journey till now. I always wanted to make it big and the first step I thought of was through getting into an IIT. But did I get into one? NO. Why would I be writing it otherwise? I failed miserably of not achieving it and there was a long period of embarrassment which lasted till first two years of my engineering. But there were some positives in that also. I explored various activities during my college. After that I worked in Infosys for around 3 years but that dream of making something out of my potential was still there. However, during the time I worked at Infosys, I felt the need to do something more. Thus, I started preparing for MBA entrance exams. Initially it was difficult to balance the work and studies but the desire of making it to a B-School kept me going. Eventually I made it one of the premiere B-Schools of India. But as I entered into my college, a personal tragedy shook me. I felt everything falling apart. I was unable to concentrate on anything. Then one day, I realised if I continue going like this everything I dreamt of can never be achieved. That desire to achieve something helped me get out of that phase. I am proud today, that I was able to focus my mind to separate my career from my personal life and working towards path to achieve my goals.
