Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?

The roots of the Aditya Birla Group date back to the 19th century in the town of Pilani set amidst the Rajasthan desert. Here, Seth Shiv Narayan Birla started trading in cotton, laying the foundation for the House of Birla. 162 years since its humble beginnings, Aditya Birla Group has expanded itself into a large conglomerate, spreading its wings both nationally and internationally. The group is present in wide ranging sectors from Metals, Cements, Fashion to Telecom and Financial services.

In our day to day life, we encounter brands that are part of these prestigious group. When you go out shopping for clothes, big brands such as Pantaloons, Van Heusen, Louis Phillipe, Forever 21 cater to all segments and demographics of the society and are all associated with one single group – the Aditya Birla Group.

Partnering with global giant Vodafone, Vodafone India Limited is the leading telecom service provider in the country and has always left an impression on the minds of the audience with quirky ads like ‘What an Idea, Sirji’.

When my family was planning to shift to a new home, I remember going to the site and seeing cement bags of UltraTech cement. Even after years since the cement launched its advertisement campaign, I knew that the cement belongs to a group I trust. Similarly, recent advertisements and marketing campaigns have helped make Aditya Birla Capital a household name confirming how we how we are always surrounded by this massive group.

From changing the fashion quotient of the nation to bringing people closer, Aditya Birla Group has been constantly touching our life. To add to that there are still many domains where the group works behind the scenes and the consumer might not be aware of their involvement in it. One thing is certain in all of this, the group makes a large impact in the heart of the citizen of this nation and will continue to do so, for generations ahead.

How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

Ambition is a strong desire to do or achieve something. I don’t think I have found my life’s ultimate ambition yet. But of course there have been ups and downs in my life which helped me understand what my next goal should be.

I had given a shot at MBA entrances in 2016 while I was still in my college final year. Even though I had not given my 100 percent to the preparations, it didn’t stop me from having high expectations. And therefore, when the result released, I was not going to score as per my expectations. Already having secured a position in EY during my college placements, I decided to delay my further studies and get some work corporate work experience. Soon after joining the firm I realized the hectic nature of the job which was made worse by travel between Delhi/Gurugram. This left me with negligible time and energy to focus on my personal growth and studies. Even though I like my job and was fond of the organizational culture, soon I decided it was time for me to get back on track with my MBA preparations.

First thing that I had to do was time management; I decided to create time table to determine the time voids in my day that could be effectively utilized. I also realised that I was spending close to 3 hours in cab daily and started utilizing by reading various articles or listening to informative videos. I even adjusted my office timings in a way to reduce commute time, allowing me study daily enabling me to get a better result. This steps along with the support that my management provided me with, helped me perform well in this attempt and thus began my journey into one of India’s top B-schools.
