How ABG played an important role in my life

Aditya Birla group is not just a group of companies it is inspiration to the nation. Kumar Manglam Birla who took over as chairman of the group in 1995, at the age of 28, after the untimely death of his father inspired all of us. Despite taking over the reins of the group at such a young age, he has taken bold steps and as a result, Birla group has further expanded in more than 40 countries and its turnover has increased manifold from $2 billion to $33 Billion. The story of rapid growth of Birla Group creates zest in me for innovation and aid in development of the country.

From infrastructure to textile industry, from chemical industry to Communication world Aditya Birla Group have a vital role in each field directly or indirectly. I am also using products of various companies of Aditya Group in my day to day life some of which are as below.

A tradition to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions has existed since a very long time. Every occasion calls for a perfect gift and the brands under Aditya Birla Group have been more than successful in making that happen. During my childhood, one of the most difficult tasks of all was to find a gift for my father on his birthday. With the varied collection that Peter England had to offer, this was a cake walk. And believe me, that’s where he got his gifts for most of his birthdays.

I got my first cellphone when I was in my junior college. For a very long time, Idea cellular has been enabling me to enhance my reach to distant places. As I have stayed away from my parents since my junior college, Idea’s cellular connectivity has played a major role in me being connected to my family, friends, and relatives. Also, the internet services offered has helped me delve deeper into the social media and grow my knowledge about the world around me. Back then, I am sure, the language barrier ad that came out in 2010 and the message it delivered would have been yet another reason for people to appreciate Idea and its services like I do.

The brand Forever 21 has been a life saver whenever and wherever I have faced a dilemma in shopping for women. Let it be my mother, my sister, a friend or a girlfriend for that matter. The designs and patterns at Forever 21 are very ethereal in nature. This very brand never seems to disappoint and has hence been one of my first picks when I look to shop for the women in my life.

Everyone needs formals when they enter the corporate world and so did I. My favorite would have to be Allen Solly and it is solely because of the quality of the product. Also, the discounts offered for this particular brand is another reason I am enticed to it. It has truly revolutionized the Indian Formal Attire. Another amazing great find by Aditya Birla Group is, ‘Pantaloons’. It is a conglomeration of various brands and is therefore a one stop shop for all my clothing needs. I personally believe this is a better approach to shopping as you have all the desired brands at one place, numerous options to choose from and hefty discounts to save one’s pocket pennies. Apart from this, being a pantaloons membership card holder, I get additional benefits in terms of payback points.

Despite of being actively involved in the management of such a big group and having very little availability of time, Kumar Mangalam Birla has also taken the responsibility prestigious institutes such as BITS as Chancellor, chairman of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad. This is very inspiring as the top man of the group has not limited itself to making money but is also contributing to the growth of intellectual and social strength of the nation.

With Aditya Birla Group, “As the sun knows; even the sky is not the limit”.

Chronicles of my Life

When I was 16, I was detected with diabetes. This was one of the biggest challenges I have faced till date. At a very young age, I was put under a lot of tests and undergo insulin medicine via syringe instead of beginning with tablets. The main cause for such a preemptive occurrence was heredity and for me it was a cause of concern. My parents were devastated as any loving parent would be in such a situation. This turned around my lifestyle to a great extent. I had to consistently monitor my diet, exercise regularly (to some extent), change my sleeping habits, avoid being reckless and also equip myself to become independent with all these traits.

Before my engineering, I used to be very afraid of public speaking. Never had I participated in debates or group discussions before. Hence, I made a resolution as to take part in various competitions to enhance my communication skills and eliminate my stage fears. I actively participated in paper presentation competitions, events conducted my student cells, stage plays etc. This help me in boosting my confidence and allowed me to become a more conversant personality than earlier.

I was placed at Accenture during my campus placement and went to Hyderabad for training. Initially it was difficult for me to get past the language barrier. It became challenging to fit into conversations and keep them engaged in the same as most of the people I met at Hyderabad were either Telegu or South Indians.

At work, my biggest challenge was to compete with the experienced person. some of my senior being knowledgeable, portrayed a very haughty behavior. If I had a query or doubt, his response would be, ‘Look it up on Google’. This pushed me to learn the things on my own and perform. Sometimes, I did make mistakes but it made me to learn better than before enlightening me of the importance of taking stand when you are willing to perform is the key to beat any challenge.

Having challenges in life is one part, facing them is another. It requires a fair amount of courage to accept there is a problem to begin with, and an equal amount to own it or do something about it. It is only when we work on our challenges, that we grow and become a better version of ourselves.

Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”
