Aditya Birla Group manufactures various products which have an impact on our lives in multifarious ways. It had been a part of my life even at the early stages of my childhood when I did not know what Aditya Birla Group was. Our home was built using UltraTech cement. It was strong and safe just like my family bond. It helped build a perfect home for my family. My father is an engineer in the Ministry of Railways and has seen Birla Copper being used in trains. We installed ‘Idea network’ in the first mobile of our house to help us stay connected always - an idea that changed our lives. Our first family car had Birla Carbon nanoparticles in its tyres to ensure a safe journey.
My father and my brother buy their formal and informal suits, shirts and pants from Louis Phillippe, Van Heusen and Peter England. My mother buys her ‘salwar suits’ from Pantaloons. I buy my clothes from Allen Solly and Forever 21. These brands have provided my family and I with a varied range of readymade garments. They are comfortable as well as fashionable.
ABG has also provided employment to many people through its various organisations. Their CSR initiatives have actively contributed to the social and economic development of the communities to build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country's human development index.
One has to face many challenges and cross many hurdles to achieve what one really wants in life. I too surpassed all of them to be where I am today. However, as far as I can remember, the biggest challenge in my life came when I had to change my stream altogether after class 12. I had Science stream in school. After passing class 12th with flying colours and subsequently getting admission in mechanical engineering in Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, I realised I wanted to pursue management and not go into engineering field.
It was then that I started working towards my goal. I gave the entrance examination of Delhi University and was selected into Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, one of the best colleges in India for Bachelor of Management Studies. Although it was difficult at first to adjust to the change in my stream and study new subjects altogether, I have never regretted the decision to join SSCBS. I gained many opportunities at SSCBS and made the best of friends. Apart from excelling in academics, I was a member of various societies of SSCBS that helped me hone my leadership and teamwork skills. I gave CAT’18 during my BMS and was elated when the results came out. Now, it was time to prepare for the interviews of the various colleges from which I received interview calls. I have always loved shopping and the interviews provided me another opportunity to shop. I bought my suit from Allen Solly, my favourite brand for formals. All my formal suits are a courtesy of Van Heusen and Allen Solly, both of which are Aditya Birla Group brands. The formal suit in the interviews along with my preparation led way to my selection in one of the premier B schools of the country, MDI Gurgaon. I can say that I made it big in my life.
