‘ My challenges and how I overcame them ‘
I have seen many ups and downs in my life and I did my best to overcome them. The biggest challenge I overcome was the severe kinetosis issue I had from my childhood. It restricted my movements a lot because I used to fall sick whenever I had to travel. I was really worried about my future as I can't stay all my life in my hometown. All the doctors I consulted, medications I took, little tricks I tried had no effect on my condition.
Though I was good at studies from my childhood, this condition depressed me a lot. At that point, I took the decision of joining a university which was thousands of kilometers away from my home and which needed me to travel in road, air, and railways. I wanted to put myself in a position such that there was no other choice for me but to overcome this condition and I came out successfully with a lot of hard work. If I hadn’t taken that step then I wouldn’t have been in my dream B – school, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi.
Road to my dream b school wasn’t smooth as I thought it would be. I had many setbacks while preparing my self for the multiple selection rounds. I doubted my self many times. Even though I had no mentor to talk with I pulled through with hard work. But the work isn’t over, right? Now I’m competing with the brightest minds of our country. I was really afraid before coming to IIFT and asked myself one question several times “ Do I deserve to be in a B school? “ I asked the same to one of my seniors and their support and willingness to help us is what helped me to go through that phase. Now I am just working hard to achieve my dreams in the right environment with great support pillars by my side and what more can a student ask for?
‘ Role of Aditya Birla Group in my (our) life ’
The Philanthropy of the Birla family began in the 1880s itself and the legacy was continued by Aditya Birla Group. Under the leadership of Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development with the aim to raise the Human Development Index of the country, the Aditya Birla Group has been doing the tremendous job since then.
I come from a place which is considered to be one of the driest places of our country, the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The groundwater resource in our place was very less compared to other regions in Andhra Pradesh. We had seen extreme weather conditions in our life, the ferocious floods, and the deadly droughts. Ultra Tech Cement, the biggest cement factory and largest clinker of cement in India established its plant in the Anantapur region of Rayalaseema which brought jobs and industries to the dry region. But little we knew that this was just a start.
The Ultra Tech cement limited, under it’s CSR foundation scheme did tremendous work in my own district, Kurnool district of Rayalaseema region. With the introduction of programs such as Disaster relief program, promotion of culture and sports, Natural resource conservation program, Animal-based husbandry, protection of Art Heritage and Culture, Social security and support to organizations, etc has wiped thousands and tears and brought millions of smiles in the faces of people. Did the good work stop here? The answer is No!
Ultra Tech cement limited is going to establish an integrated cement plant in Kurnool district which costs around 2500 crores and in 450 hectares of land. This mega project is going to generate around 1000 jobs which is a tremendous boon for people of my region. All these smiles, all this good just because of one brand of Aditya Birla Group and there are many brands and many good works done by ABG.
