15th July, 1993, a baby girl was born to a couple who were long struggling with their lives. All that the couple needed that time was a permanent job, to start a stable life but the almighty bestowed them with a different gift. The couple never complained though because the girl’s enigmatic smile made them believe that a miracle is on its way. Eureka! After a few days, their hard work paid off. The girl’s father got a job at Hindalco Industries Limited, Renukoot. This embarked the journey of a beautiful bond between the Aditya Birla Group and that family.

Since the day, the little girl realized what the world means to her, it was Aditya Birla group that became her world. From living in the accommodation provided by the ‘Hindalco Industries Limited’ to studying in ‘The Aditya Birla Public School’, from eating the food packed in ‘Hindalco Freshwrap’ to listening to the success stories of the Birlas from her father, ‘Aditya Birla Group’ became her family. The little girl used to get up seeing her father get dressed for the office and his dedication towards his work imbibed the moral of discipline and loyalty in her. Then she used to get dressed for her school, The Aditya Birla Public School, a place where she spent her 14 years, from Nursery to Class XII. Those 6 hours at school taught her the core values of life. Those photographs of the great Birlas hung at the wall always inspired her. Reading their stories, of how they built an Empire from scratch since 1857, imbibed her heart with their vision. Her parents used to take her to the serene Birla Temple in the evening where she prayed, giggled around in the green lawn and listen to her father’s office related stories. On her 13th birthday, her father took her to Pantaloons and that changed her idea for fashion. Colors, fabrics, styles, beauty, it felt like a Barbie Land to her. She also wanted to leave an impact, the way Aditya Birla Group impacted everyone’s life. Her emotions and vision grew deeper with the Aditya Birla Group.

Time flew and the little girl grew up to pursue Engineering. That was a turning point in her life. The College she joined had an exciting environment because it has academics, literary activities, sports and many other opportunities to explore oneself. But it was not exciting for everyone. There were few who found themselves caged in their own world. It was a fine evening of 13th November, 2011. She went for a literary event, organized in the college, with her friend. The moment she entered the Auditorium she was shocked! In a crowd of approximately 200 boys, there were only two girls- she and her friend. Though our Aditya Birla’s disciple came 2nd but she was not truly happy. The same story repeated for further Literary events as well. She could not hold her calm and went up to her seniors. Upon inquiring, she got to know that the reason for fewer girls’ participation is something else. Though they are interested in Public Speaking but it the fear of being mocked that holds them back. A girl was mocked for her stammering by the boys of her class and this has stopped many from speaking in front of everyone. Caging oneself in the boundaries of fear is no solution; this is what our ABG’s disciple had learnt since childhood. Hence she decided to work to help the girls leap the boundaries.

The efforts started on 12th February, 2014. She formed a team with 3 other girls with a mission of opening a club solely for the girls. This club could help them strengthen their foundation and overcome their inhibitions among themselves. This would help them build the confidence within and thereafter they could participate in the Open events along with the Boys. But the College Administration rejected their idea. Upon multiple requests they challenged them to prove their worth within one year or else they would be debarred from hosting events. The team started to host events without any official name. Firstly they used to advertise the events and then host events in the Girls hostel to attract the audience for the event. Collecting the audience was not easy and it took them one year of rigorous efforts, dedication and hard work to form the literary committee, Abhivyakti. Slowly and steadily the girls learned to break their chains of fear and inhibitions. They started bringing laurels by winning Open Competitions in the College. Those who were earlier mocked for their stammering became the star of Public Speaking.

That one year of struggle taught our ABG’s disciple that it takes sheer efforts to serve the cause one believes in. The world might not believe in our dreams but it is us who needs to believe in them. It is our belief that is required to change our dream to reality. It was not easy for Seth Shiv Narayana Birla to build the foundation of an Empire in 1857, but had the initiative not being taken, nothing would have changed. All it takes is the belief of taking a step forward and making the change.

This way she tasted the feel of working for others, working for the cause one believes in. She wanted to work for the Aditya Birla Group thereafter but destiny had some other plans. With ABG’s vision imbibed in her heart and dressed in Van Heusen’s formal, which she wore for the first time, she sat for an IT firm’s interview. Eureka! She got through the interview. Surprisingly, she lent her formal dress to 3 other friends for their interview and they all got through. All 4 of them definitely owed a treat to Van Heusen! Though she joined the firm but she longed for her home, her family, her ‘The Aditya Birla Group’ dreams. She made a choice to pursue an MBA to come closer to her dream.

The preparation time was not easy but her passion, her commitment strengthened her will. The Interview Day arrived and she knew what to reach for, Van Heusen Formals! Results came and she was surrounded with mixed emotions. She could not get through the college where the Aditya Birla Group came for recruitment but she got through one of the premium B School of India, MDI Gurgaon. She was taught to believe in her dreams and her belief introduced ‘The ABG Woo Me Season 2’ Contest in her college. It is impossible to imagine anyone who has been untouched by the company which produces every 3rd Aluminum Can, sells 2 garments every second, enjoys the position of being 2nd largest telecom operator and sells fabrics to top fashion brands. Among billions, a girl named Garveeta Singh, has also been fortunate to be touched by them.

Today, Garveeta is writing her own story to let the world know how much inspired she is from the Empire rather her family called ‘The Aditya Birla Group’.
