Challenges are part and parcel of life now and I have learned that the main thing challenges teach us is the ability to know ourselves better. We get to know how strong we are in handling different situations. These ups and downs are very important as they mould a person and organization into what they are.
I have faced several challenges in my life, I joined the college as a person who was afraid of people. I realized that I had stage fear and I had to do something regarding it. I found it very challenging giving presentations in class or speaking up in any small gathering. I joined the dramatics club to eradicate my fear but one incidence changed my life completely. I was on the stage standing in front of 4000 people ready to deliver my dialogue. But I panicked because of stage fear, standing on stage and seeing people waiting for me to say something but I couldn’t.
I had only two options in that case, either to deliver the dialogue or leave the stage. I gathered all my breath, focussed on the words and delivered the dialogue. That was a challenge that I accomplished and I was able to overcome my stage fear that day.
After overcoming my stage fear, I realized that I am not good in my leadership skills and I need to work on those. I became the head of movies and dramatics club. When I became the head, the club had only five to six members and the least liked club of the college. I changed several things inside the club like recruiting more people and making divisions in the club which can work on different things. I made several changes in the plays we did and slowly we gained the audience affection. We grew to a club of hundred members and got the best club award of the college. I learned to work in teams and working under pressure and taking responsibility.
The learning from these challenges I could apply in my job at Nokia Networks as well as my MBA exam preparations.
The challenges I faced prepared me for the MBA journey ahead and gave me the confidence to handle every situation that life throws on to me.
