Aditya Birla Group has been an active member of a lot of ‘firsts’ in my life. Let me explain.

In my first year of college I got my own phone. My father had bought the phone and I was solely tasked with the decision to choose my telecom operator. I had just turned 18 a few weeks ago and this was my first Capital-A ‘Adult’ decision. I was serious and diligent and started my research. I checked online and visited stores. I still own the pamphlet which the Vodafone employee gave me and can recite my plan by heart – 399 minutes of free local calls + STD and 1 GB data free per month. What a steal! I was happy and satisfied and remained a loyal customer for the next 4 years.

Fast forwarding to July 2015 when I had some money in my bank account after winning a few inter-college competitions and most of all learning how to save money. I was stringy with my pocket money because I had a clear cut objective – I wanted to buy my brother a shirt for Rakshabandhan as a gift from my own money. I had been waiting for July as I knew that is when most branded stores had their ‘Sale Offers.’ I went to all three stores owned by ABGL – Van Heusen, Louise Phillip and Allen Solly. I ended up buying a blue striped shirt from Allen Solly’s South Extension store. My mom has a framed photograph of my brother wearing that shirt and me standing beside him, grinning widely.

In 2017, I got my first job at KPMG Global Services. I experienced the joy of a new month and the wonderful feeling you get when your bank sends you a message saying your salary has been credited. As a future manager and a life-long saver, I wanted to start investing. My father steered me towards mutual funds and advised me to invest in Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund. I resisted, as all young people who want to make a mark for themselves do. I did a lot of research and compared my options. It turned out my father was right and I had more ego than sense. From August 2017 onwards I started a SIP in Aditya Birla Sun Life Frontline Equity funds, and have been happier ever since.

Aditya Birla life has been a part of my life in many other occasions, some I remember and others I don’t. But it has contributed immensely to my sense of happiness and belonging.
