All you need is a push in the right direction!
Had someone told me I would be in one of the most coveted B-School, writing this article at the age of 21 with no prior work experience, I probably would have just laughed. But if there is something I have learned in the past 4 years is that life is unpredictable, and the unpredictability is the spice of life. Here goes a story of one who was an introvert!
Turning the clocks back to when I was in class XIth, I was what one calls a borderline ambivert, I was open to a chat but I could not initiate it thus reducing my scope to meet new people outside school.
I was popular because of my interest in sports and other activities but I could not build upon it due to my shyness and unwillingness to get out of my comfort zone. Who knew that it was all to be changed come next year – when I got elected as the head boy.
Some people have greatness thrust upon them; I had a responsibility and that led to what was going to be one of the most transforming events of my life as I now had to talk to so many people and I actually started enjoying it.
With all the lessons learnt, I forayed into college with the thought of meeting a lot of people and getting to know them. Agreed, it wasn’t that easy but I found out that all it took was a common interest, then came college societies and I joined seven of them. Who knew I had a knack for event management! By the end of the first year, I not only knew more than half of the college, but I got an offer by five of the seven societies to take a position to lead a department in the second year. Obviously, I had to leave some of them, but I made sure I never soured my relations which I realized was very useful when I was elected as the President of one of the clubs and with the support of the students with me, I finally could take it to the next level.
All it took was a little push!
Suit up with ABG!
“You got a suit? Then suit up!”
-Captain America (Avengers Assemble)
Well, we all can’t have jet thrusters on our back or web slingers on our wrist but at least we can look classy. That is where the Aditya Birla conglomerate has really helped me out. After all whom amongst us does not like respect, comfort and the last but not the least to be in the centre of attraction. We all need that, don’t we?
But for me this group offers more than just the three stated above, for me it is a connection to my father, while growing up I have seen my father working long hours in his office donning a blazer no matter how hot it was and I always wondered why he did it, fast forward to the day I had my first interview, I had a pair of suit by then but I wasn’t so sure of myself and I decided to go for my father’s pair. Now, this might not be extremely rare but that day I understood what a suit does to you. Not only was I more confident about myself, but the suit, being my father’s, attached even more value to it aesthetically. The suit was from Louis Phillipe and I still have it for all the important occasions.
Take that out and ABG is still everywhere, from my sister’s go-to-shopping place at Forever 21 to the Freshwrapp that my mother uses for my lunch, this group has always delivered the best value.
150 years of experience to provide us with what we want – the sim in our phone or the cement in our building – you don’t go wrong with ABG!
