Why Aditya Birla Group is Big in your Life:
Aditya Birla Group, being one of the biggest conglomerates of India has a significant presence in all markets ranging from cement to insurance products, from telecommunications to fashion, etc. It has played a vital role in the growth of the nation as a whole. From being a 4th generation 150-year old conglomerate to playing carrying out various infrastructure projects across India, to reaching the masses through its wide collection of fashion accessories, it has touched and inspired millions of lives across the country in many ways. Its various CSR initiatives have empowered the healthcare sector of India, thereby positively impacting millions of people across the globe.
Apart from these products, ABG plays an irreplaceable role in training the technical minds of personnel building the country, through the highly coveted for engineering colleges like Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and other similar undertakings. As a B-School student, it has a special importance in my life. The general management role that is offered by ABG is one of the most sought-after roles across campuses. How have you made an impact:
I believe one’s personality is defined by how one acts when put under pressure and under extreme situations. Since life is an unpredictable mix of both easy-going and difficult situations, it becomes extremely important for us B- Schoolers to have an appetite for challenges.
I, for one, have a really healthy appetite for such perplexing challenges and am not intimidated by facing slim odds in life. One such example that I would like to put out there is my journey from not being eligible for Common Admission Test (CAT) to not only appearing for it but also acing it and making it into one of the premier B- Schools out there in MDI – Gurgaon.
Due to my easy going attitude and complacency, I half heartedly prepared for JEE again in the first year of my B.Tech. in Mechanical from Delhi Technological University. Fast forward 5 semesters and I have a realisation that I’m not getting a top placement with my then 43% aggregate and that I had taken keen interest in management related electives. Therefore, I decided to start preparation of cat as well as get my aggregate to 50% so as to become eligible for the same. My hard work did pay off big time as now my Undergrad aggregate is up to 62%(not great but I’m satisfied given where I came from) and aced CAT securing 99.80 percentile and made it to MDI where I’ll have all the resources to pursue a job in the field of my interest and my potential only limited by my own capabilities.
My takeaway from this is that you can achieve anything you put your mind to and believe in yourself to achieve the same. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. We shouldn’t let what we couldn’t do affect what we can do and work towards achieving our potential because it’s not our skills but the fire inside us that fuels our passion.
