How Aditya Birla changed life:
The roots of the Aditya Birla Group go back to almost a century before India’s independence from colonial rule. Indeed, its role in India’s economic history is tied inextricably with the nation’s quest for political freedom. The foundation of the Birla business empire, which was eventually divided among the members of the subsequent generations, was laid by Shiv Narayan Birla, who started cotton trading in Pilani, Rajasthan, in 1857.
In the early years of the 20th century, his grandson, Ghanshyamdas Birla, established businesses in critical sectors such as textiles and fibre, aluminium, cement and chemicals.
The Kolkata-based businessman became closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi and accompanied him to London on two occasions to attend the historic round table conferences. It was at a public prayer meeting in Birla house in Delhi in 1948 that Gandhi was shot dead by an assassin.
The company gives back to society in several ways. As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments, ABG provides sustainable livelihood for 25,000 people and impacts the lives of 3,000 girl children. It creates 100,000 hours of employee volunteering. In a statement, Birla has said, “In our group 52 per cent of our executives are under 35 years of age. They are the leaders of tomorrow whom we need to groom today.” He has also spelt out ABG’s commitment to equal opportunities for women. “Today, women constitute over 14 per cent of our employee force,” Birla said.
The ABG’s 11th annual report states, “It is the people behind the brands who have made the company what it is.”
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
We all face tough and difficult challenges in life. Some become difficult to overcome, especially when the odds are stacked against us. Going against all odds, is something we're capable of doing. To overcome challenges, I have adopted the "never quit" attitude in life. If you develop it, you'll overcome quite a bit. I Motivate myself every day. Hence, every challenge brings out the best of me in the situation. Slowing it down, thinking that process though. Developing that attitude in saying there's no way you're going to fail at this. If you develop that mindset, you'll get it done. I try to stay calm and cool headed. When I am facing serious troubles and problems in life. I recollect myself, and calm down. I try to simplify the problem or challenge that I am facing. I Break it down into steps, and work my way to the top of it. I Work through each step of the process of overcoming this challenge. I try to Make the challenge easier than it. And That starts by breaking it down into steps. As I get through each step, I develop more belief that I can get it done. I maintain being positive and confident. For Overcoming a challenge, I believe that I can really do it. When I get into the mind frame of doing it mentally, I am actually be able to do it.
