Go, hustle!
Something I’d say to myself every day before the mirror. Looking into the mirror, I’d see not myself but a face staring back, both of us trying to think of the last quant question we’d read. This was the time when I was preparing for my entrance exams to get into a premier B-School. My mind was occupied with thoughts of nothing but what I needed to learn and a dream. A dream to be able to get into an institution where I could learn, evolve and be the best version of myself.
It was a constant hustle, catching up with work, classes, clients and more. In a situation where I didn’t have time to catch up on breakfast, my mom wouldn’t give up on her hustle of keeping me healthy. Then came to our rescue, Freshwrap from Hindalco, she’d pack me the most scrumptious food that I could gorge on while moving around.
Talking about moving around, hustling in the Delhi heat can really wear ones sole and soul, both. Thankfully, Aditya Birla Group had a solution for both. Pantaloons was my one stop solution for all my comfort clothes needs, and shoes too. I most preferred flowy clothes with Liva, to beat the heat and keep my chase for THE DREAM going.
It wasn’t easy to keep myself structured. To get up and revise again after not getting as many questions right as I wanted to. To get past failures. To get past people doing better than me. But I had promised myself a commitment to my dream. I couldn’t have let my passion died. I had to put in the best of my efforts and work with integrity.
So, I did. I’m glad I did.
By the end of the journey, I made it to more than one dream institution. But, my choice was clear. I had to pursue marketing and MBA in International Business at IIFT was the course that would make it most conducive for me. It’ll teach my everything with an international perspective and give wings to my dreams, wings strong enough to help me fly across the globe.
I was super enthusiastic on being selected for IIFT, and yet at the same time intimidated by my own expectations of not being able to do enough. Not being able to be the best I wanted to be. With all these thoughts in my head, I also had a list of things I’d require for the B-School grind. On the top of the list featured a classic black formal suit, something every person would aspire to wear. Pre occupied with these thoughts, I stepped into a Van Heusen store. On stepping into the store, I was introduced to many options, I selected a few as per my specifications and went on to try them.
It was only after I had stepped into the perfect suit meant for me and looked at myself in the mirror, did my thoughts slow down. While I kept looking at myself, my brain went silent. All inhibitions dozed off and all I could see was a strong, young woman, ready to take on her dream at IIFT.
