Some memories are unforgettable, remaining ever vivid and heartwarming.
It is a recent memory. It was my first class of MBA. I was extremely scared & I had a very strong reason for that. I am a mechanical engineer & certainly, I was not expecting the first class of Microeconomics.
It was our first class but it wasn’t our first day on campus. We were enjoying our induction program since last 7 to 8 days. I had heard lots of daunting stories about the rigour, discipline and academic complexities from our seniors and now it was time to enter into that zone.
It was 8.00 am in the morning. I had some preconceived notion about how economists look like and after looking at the professor my opinion got evidence and become fact in my mind. She came and closed the door. It was sharp 8.00 AM on the clock. That defined the strictness she had with time. She also sent a few latecomers back to the hostel. There was a pin drop silence in the room. And suddenly metallic flute fell on the floor from the bag of the person sitting on the front desk, exactly in front of the teacher.
It was David. I know that guy. He is from Ladakh. He has some anxiety of facing people and that’s why he carries that small instrument with him. He plays that to meditate himself whenever he is alone or not doing anything. He says it gives some strength to him and that’s why he keeps that instrument with him all the time.
But, surely it was not a right time for that instrument to fell down. I thought that now he is going to face a disaster. But what happened was something which I was never expected at all.
She picked that flute and told David to play some tune for the class. He was so scared (like me) and refusing to play by adding the word “sorry” twice in every sentence. She said “Don’t worry David. Please play something for us. It is a very pleasant morning.”
He played one tune. I am a classical music singer and I have never ever heard such a beautiful tune in my life. He was so professional, so amazing. I cannot describe the moment in words. After that everyone appreciated him with a huge round of applause. The class also went well. Believe me, economics is not that difficult. If you understand it will be the music for you.
Some good things happened; one is David come out of anxiety. Professor liked the batch. I learnt a lesson that you should not form any prior opinion about anyone. And one last thing, I realized that I have the very strong memorable experience to share.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for Aditya Birla Retail Limited of ABG group. I am pursuing my MBA from SIBM Pune in the operations domain. So I would like to join a company that provides me the scope in supply chain planning and optimization. It will be an excellent opportunity for me so that I can contribute myself to follow the organization’s goals and meet my career objective too.
