Aditya Birla Group is one brand that has made a home in my life since ages. Its presence can be mapped, right from wrapping my food in Freshwrapp foils in schooldays to setting my mood with Van Heusen blazers in interviews, from giving my family outside-home insurance to inside protection with UltraTech cement. ABG has upped its brand image by creating more value-adding products which reach to masses and not divide the society into different classes. As more and more of its products are taking root in society, they are adding new experiences and stories to my life. And one of those is associated with Freshwrapp.

Well, I have been an introvert all my life and it was always a struggle to mingle with people during college days. But my home-made maa ke hath ka khana, perfectly wrapped in Freshwrapp foil, was a silent appeal to the people around me. One day, while I was sitting in my canteen, with my fresh-wrapp of parantha reverberating its freshness and warmth in the thick shield of foil, gave a shout-out to one of the girls sitting next to me. She approached me silently and so did her friends. We shared conversations and laughter over that food-break daily and ever since Foodwrapp has never left my sight. It preserved the food content with all the flavors right there intact and allowed me to interact with more people with confidence. I started to name those meeting as “Foodwrapp meetings” which helped me connect with people and make friends for life.

Blurring the Perceptions!!

They say, “Express till you can”. Ever tried that, and ever failed? Well, this is my story of that failure and how I took on this challenge to look in the eye, and to not shy away from it.

Our expressions are the reflection of ideas, thoughts, and opinions which we wish should only be associated with us and not someone else. It gives you a medium to create your own identity. But if that expression is taken away, we are left with a blank canvas compelling to tell stories. I felt the same emptiness when I changed my school from Hindi medium to an English medium during my higher secondary education. During the first day at my new school, I was asked a chemistry question in English, and after understanding the gist of it, I raised my hand in full confidence. The answer to that question, which I still remember was “Immiscible Liquids” and I answered it correctly with slight changes as “Aghulansheel Padharth”. After a moment of silence, I became the center of laughter for everyone around me. What came with that laughter was the judgmental look of “she is not literate enough”. So, the challenge was not just to learn the medium but to change the perception.

From speaking in hush tones with little gaps in between, wrongly spelled incorrect grammar sentences to onstage speaker and National Level English Debater, I have come a long way. It was not an easy challenge, but going through the daily practice sessions, and not worrying about what others will think, is what kept me going.

English still makes me trip on days, but I grow daily through learning.
