Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate with a lot of companies and brands under it. It is one of the largest conglomerates in India not just by the name or companies but also by the work it has done for the society. I am also one of the luckiest who is immensely benefitted by Aditya Birla Group and therefore ABG is quite big in my life. It all started back in 2002 when I and my family were in a dire state. With my father who had lost his job a year back and no other financial support, the days were hard to come by. Our family of four were somehow passing the days with little savings we had. My father being educated couldn’t get a job and we were hoping for a miracle to happen. However perhaps God answer our prayers and sent the ABG as our saviour. Aditya Birla Group planned to start an aluminium factory in our Raygada district of Odisha and also promised to provide employment to all villagers nearby. My father being better educated was promised the role of a junior operator in the plant. That way our life started to change thanks to HINDALCO a unit of ABG group. Moreover under the CSR activities ABG group started a program in our village Rengali such that the women of the village gets an employment opportunities. It established a small tailoring unit when women based upon their skills were given duties. My mother being a decent operator of sewing machine got a permanent job there. Suddenly our life took a U-turn and I just couldn’t believe in my eyes. From being unemployed to both my parents being employed. Our financial condition started to improve and gradually me and my younger sister got better education opportunities. Things went normally for few years until I completed my graduation and thought of pursuing MBA for a reputed B-school in India. And Voila! I was selected for Indian Institute of Foreign Trade I was happy but our family was also bit stressed same time because the fees was very huge nearly 20 lakhs. We were very worried to arrange the money for first instalment and then again ABG came tour rescue. Since I had passed my graduation with very good percentage and was selected for a reputed b-school and was first one in our village to do so, therefore ABG group decided to give me scholarship and also provide some financial assistance during these two years. I got successfully admitted and looking forward to complete my MBA with flying colours. Thanks to ABG whose constant support has helped me to become a successful person in life. The amount of support that ABG has given me in life, it is safe to say that Aditya Birla Group is indeed big or huge in my life.

Challenges:

“Still water doesn’t make a fine sailor”. This adage is representative of the mettle, one displays in life. Challenges, pitfalls, setbacks are the crossroads in one’s life where one crumbles or transcends into his better self. During my undergraduate days once I applied for the position of placement coordinator in aspiration to be one of the member. But little I did know about the rigorous process I need to go for it . I was given the task like talking to HRs convincing them, talk to PCs of other colleges and get the placement information of that college. I had no prior experience to that and initially I bogged down with no idea how to achieve the cause. The unhealthy competition around me didn’t help my cause either. So I started building the foundation first. I made a LinkedIn account made HR connections, reached out to good friends in other colleges talked with them and got an insight to their placement report. I called every single person in the list of contact and diligently went through the questionnaire. I showed a great tenacity and despite dead ends and number of people who didn’t pick up and respond I kept going. And finally I kept on modifying the questionnaire and research findings. I showed a great adaptability and finally with help of some seniors prepared for Interview and mock rounds. At last I emerged victorious and was appointed placement coordinator of our branch. Till today when I remember those struggles I get a smile in my face since the result after the struggles were very sweet.
