Aditya Birla Group is an Indian multinational conglomerate, headquartered in Worli, Mumbai, India. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbonblack, chemicals, fertilisers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO and IT services. In other words, it has interest in every small and big sector of the society and business world.
Aditya Birla plays a big role in all our lives without even letting us know. Right from the cement that is used to build our houses, to providing metals such as iron, copper to build trains, clothes for everyday fashion to luxury brands, it has contributed in a big way in improving our quality of life.
How Aditya Birla is big in my life? Aditya Birla is big in my life through its fashion and retail business. Pantaloons is a one stop destinations for all your wardrobe needs. It offers great range of clothes at reasonable prices, without compromising on quality. PlanetFashion, which houses men’s apparels is also a place that is frequently visited by my family. It houses great brands under one roof. It provides you the traditional shop environment, where in a salesperson will personally attend you. This traditional shop environment is slowly fading away and is getting replaced by self-serviced stores in malls. Also due to a greater number of people visiting malls, the salespersons at these stores are not able to provide their complete attention to each customer. This is not the case with PlanetFashion stores.
I am also a big fan of the ‘Liva’ fabric created by Aditya Birla Cellulose Limited. The fabric is light and fluid. The fabric can be worn in any season from hot and sweaty summers to cold and dry winters. It is comfortable and looks elegant and bright.
Allen Solly and Van Heusen are my favourite retail stores to shop for formal and semi-formal clothes. In fact, I cracked my NMIMS-MBA admission interview wearing formals by Allen Solly. Shopping for my MBA interview at Allen Solly was very easy. All I had to do was, inform the salesperson the occasion(interview) I was shopping was. The salesperson then arranged 3-4 formal suits, from which I selected one. Everything was done within 30 minutes, thus saving my time.
I think apart from the points mentioned above, there are many places in our lives where Aditya Birla Group has a presence, but we do not know about it. For example, FreshWrapp, aluminium foil paper that we use to wrap food is produced by Hindalco, one of ABGL companies. The iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai is built using Ultratech cement. May be the house that I am sitting in or the college that I am currently studying in is also built using Ultratech cement. Idea, one of the leading mobile operators in India (now merged with Vodafone and known as Vodafone Idea) is used by many in my family. Thus, ABGL also helps me stay connected with my family.
Thus, Aditya Birla Group plays a big role in my daily life. Sometimes I know about its presence and sometimes I do not.
