Aditya Birla has played a big role in shaping my life. I would like to break my writeup in three parts and Aditya Birla’s role in it.
- Ultratech Cement: I come from a small town in West Bengal, Darjeeling. Economy of Darjeeling is dependent on tourism which implies construction of hotels needs to be impeccable. My family business deals in supplying construction material and Ultratech Cement is always on top of our mind. When we are selling Ultratech we can be rest assured about the quality of the product. Ultratech has helped us in developing strong customer relation which has led to increase in our sales of other complementary products as well. So basically, Aditya Birla has been a significant contributor towards my family income for last 20 years.
- Vodafone Idea Ltd: I was associated with Airtel for last 4 years. I was impressed with the kind of service they were providing but I had one big concern which was wrong invoicing. So last year I made a switch from Airtel to Vodafone and to be honest I do not remember a single time I have had to call Vodafone customer care for any issue. I also had to travel a lot last year and Vodafone has always been there providing seamless connectivity. I still carry both Airtel and Vodafone and I can say with confidence that Vodafone will have its connectivity in almost every place.
- Fashion: Even now when I am typing this, I am wearing an Allen Solly. The kind of comfort that Allen Solly collar t-shirts can provide is unmatched. You generally tend to have first impression of a person by his dress-up sense and when I am wearing any brand from Aditya Birla Fashion, I can be rest assured about my impression.
I have had an emotional as well as financial connect with Aditya Birla. Thank you ABG for providing such quality products.
- How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far
Life is never a smooth road, you are bound to go through ups and downs, so has been my life.
My 1st major challenge came when I had to leave my house for Jaipur to prepare for IITJEE. I am the only son in my family and was used to getting pampered all the time but now here I was in in a totally different environment with a dream of getting into top Engg. College, facing life all alone. This was the time when I realized what life is, there was competition everywhere and I was still trying to get accustomed to the new place. The transition from small town to city was not easy for me.
Someone has rightly said if your dream is strong enough no matter what the obstacle you will get through it. I was determined to get into a top college, I prepared thoroughly but you know life never goes as you expect it to go. Results were out and my name was not there in the list of selected candidates. I had appeared for AIEEE as well but the result was no different. With two setbacks back to back I was shattered, I was not sure what I should. I had one last shot which was to clear WBJEE. WBJEE was yet to conduct its exam and I still remember what my father told me one night. He said “ Tumne tayari ki hai, hume pata hai, ab nai hua toh koi baat nai hum tumhare sath hai” (You have prepared we know and if you don’t get through don’t worry we are there with you). These were the words which motivated me again, I wrote WBJEE and secured a rank of 1392 out of around 1,40,000 students(top 1%) and got admitted to Jadavpur University.
So, all the efforts that I had put in last 2 years was worthwhile. There were lessons learnt during these two years which is going to stick for the rest of my life. You will never know what life has in store for you. It’s the journey that matters and not the destination.
