Part A - Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life
The fundamental elements that form the paraphernalia of one’s modern life today include clothes, money, telephone communication, house, roads and metals. When one looks around oneself and introspects carefully, one can realise that he or she is in contact with one or the other offerings from Aditya Birla Group. Even while writing this article, I just realised that the T-shirt I am wearing right now was purchased from a Pantaloons store in Kolkata last summer. As a regular investor in mutual funds for the last 4 years, Aditya Birla funds have been one of my top picks throughout. Formal wears from Aditya Birla brands have been my go to for the past five years. Ever since my childhood, I remember walking into the Pantaloons store near my school with my mother before every festival and birthday. And every time we would walk out of the store with a big green polythene bag filled with joy and happiness. This shopping tradition continues till date although the experience has improved with each passing year. While talking about the impact of Aditya Birla Group in my life, how can I forgot the massive impact of “No idea – Get Idea” TV commercials by Idea, which compelled me to port to Idea mobile network from my previous telecom service provider. From alloys and roofing sheets to cement to textile fibres to fashion house to telecommunication to financial services – wherever one looks at, he or she can find the omnipresent Aditya Birla Group standing out tall ready to serve people with its products and services.
Part B - How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
After spending most of my school life in Kolkata studying in West Bengal board (state board), I had to shift to Delhi in my 9th standard due to my father’s job transfer. As joining a school from my previous state board was not possible in Delhi, I ended up joining a school under CBSE board. Having studied only English and Bengali till then, I had to now study English and Hindi as part of my school curriculum and my 10th boards examination was almost knocking at my doors. After spending several sleepless nights and studying overnight to learn a new language, almost starting from its alphabets, taking help from my newly formed friends and teachers I successfully cleared my 10th boards examination and also secured 91% in Hindi. Even during my days at Infosys, I was allocated in a single resource DotNet project after being trained in Java for 4 months. Now imagine an electronics engineer studying about diodes for 4 years, then learning about Java for the next 4 months was then asked to code in DotNet. I once again reminded myself that if I could survive class 10th Hindi, then I can do that as well. Within a couple of days I picked up the basics of DotNet and started working on the project. I not only completed my project on time with zero QA or Production defects, but I also received client appreciation for the same. Thus, hard work, sincerity, dedication and a positive outlook has always been the key to overcoming all challenges in my life.
