Aditya Birla, a US $44.3 billion-dollar corporation whose mission is “To deliver superior value to their customers, shareholders, employees and society at large.” Founded in 1857, Aditya Birla Group (ABG) currently is actively working in 14 different industry sectors which have influenced my life in some way or the other.
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL), is one of the Sectors which has helped me transform my Personality. ABFRL is all about great style. It hosts India's largest fashion network retail brands such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Peter England, Forever 21 and Van Heusen. Your dressing sense reflects your personality, character, mood, style and what you actually are as an individual and these brands have helped me enhance my Style. From teenage to my present life I had a long-end journey with these brands and every time I visit their store, the kind of collection present there never fails to surprise me. They as a company have a long-term vision of being able to address various consumer segments with different price units like Forever 21 which always have trendy offerings and low pricing which works in my favour.
Another industry sector of ABFRL which has been beneficial to me is Vodafone Idea limited. They stay true to their vision and make distance disappear. Using this network has never disappointed me and has always helped me connect to my family and loved ones anytime and anywhere . Also after the Vodafone Idea merger the coverage is even better than before.
They have five integrated values in them which they also call as “The Power of Five” such as Integrity, Commitment, Passion, Seamlessness and Speed. These values have taught me to be a good human being and I do inculcate these values in my daily life such as acting in a fair and just manner, taking accountability for own actions and decisions, pursuing the goals with the highest of energy and enthusiasm, promoting collaborative work with organisational unity and efficiently completing work before deadlines.
These values have helped me achieve my ambition in my life so far. Getting into Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), known as one the top B-schools in the country was always my goal. Preparing for an MBA exam while continuing your job is not easy. I was working as a software developer and while preparing for the exam I faced some challenges as I had a regular shift from 9am till 6pm, which got extended for few hours on many days. After my job, as soon as I reached home, I had to start preparing for the exam which was a bit tough since I used to get tired from all the office work. Also my sleeping schedule got disturbed as I used to study late in the night to complete the courses and wake up early in the morning next day for office. There were many ups and downs in my life but I overcame all those challenges by maintaining a balance in my professional and personal life. My Integrity made me loyal to my company, hence I used to complete all my work on time so that I get enough time to study. I was very passionate about getting into IIFT and that drove me to put in extra efforts in my preparation. Also I was committed to my goal so these challenges never had much effect on me. Competitions have become a core feature for top MBA programs and so was the case in IIFT. My Seamlessness and Speed not only helped me in qualifying my written exam but also helped me clear the WAT, GD and PI round. Among the thousands of candidates who appeared in the exam I was shortlisted for the final Admission and finally my months of hard work and perseverance brought success to me.
