I would see IIM Udaipur as a unique campus in three broad ways.
First one is location. Having a hostel room on hilly terrain viewing sunrise between the mountains and starting a day with a refreshing breeze. What else can be the best starting off the day? Though directly education has nothing to do with nature, in my view nature helps you remain calm and de-stresses you from academic rigour. Nature around the institute helps to seek why am I here in this world parallelly finding an answer for "how MBA can help me in pursuing a larger goal?"
The second one is learning. A real student is a lifelong learner. IIM Udaipur provides the plethora of learning opportunities for the student. Be it academics, be it resources, be it activities. The exciting part is that the institute helps you to broaden your learning dimensions. In operation management class, we are learning practically from our canteen queue and solving bottleneck problems. You consider the academics. It is beyond the expectation that we have set before coming here. Let me share today's experience. In one of our strategy class irrespective of your case preparation, that prof makes you feel nothing in thought process and arriving at a solution. You don't take a doze even if you have less than 5 hours of sleep nor you bother to glance at the watch to see when 90 minutes complete. Getting the third position among Indian business schools in research gives a psychological advantage, and you start to take all the activities considering excellence in mind. Having a robust research ecosystem around helps to widen your research dimension in education. Learning also comes through co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Institute provides a wonderful platform to grow and nurture yourself through various clubs and committees.
Last unique part of IIM Udaipur is ‘Rural immersion program’ and International business practices. I.Q. is not sufficient if you are going to be the worthy manager. E.Q. part is equally important for managers to understand their employees. That's where Rural immersion program comes in light. This program requires all the students to visit nearby villages and understand people's needs and problems. It helps the students to experience the ground reality of development and emotions of the human being. Parallelly IIM also provides an opportunity to experience global work culture through the IBP program. I think it is an excellent combination for the aspiring leader who wants to make a little difference in the world.
