Talking of a Global Powerhouse in sectors of textiles, cement, carbon black, telecom etc, the one business house which has made a clear and extraordinary impact is Aditya Birla Group. “Great Businesses are never built on the quick sands of opportunism”- as stated by the respectable chairman of ABG, Mr Kumar M. Birla, it blatantly shows that ABG has put their focus on upholding their values, ethics and their need to serve the mankind rather than just profiting from their business plans. It is highly unlikely to not get associated with the products and services of ABG. Being in the corporate world for the past 3.5 years, formal attires were part and parcel of our client meeting and internal auditing. The in-house brands of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. Such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England were our go-to brands. The multi brand fashion retail chain Pantaloons is the most common shopping place for formals and smart casuals. When it comes to life altering technological developments, one cannot forget to mention the ease of communication we are all blessed with. Vodafone India telecom were one of the few who came up with the calling-data combo plans, which were highly useful for people like me who have been living outside our hometown for more than 4 years. Vodafone made sure to bring my home virtually closer to me. Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company Limited is one of the leading international financial services organizations. The level of commitment to human life and health that ABSLIC has showcased is really impressive and hence I made sure that my parents are insured under the Health Plan which promises us to protect my family through unexpected, unforeseen health related financial requirements. These are few ways that ABG have had an impact in my life so far and I am pretty sure that in the upcoming times, I would be lucky enough to avail the product and services of ABG.
Part B
Struggle makes a Strong Base of Life
Life without challenges teaches nothing. The flavours of life are realized when one is faced with hurdles and they overcome those to taste the sweet success. I would like to share one of the challenges which I faced in my life and I will always be grateful for those experiences as it moulded me to be a better and stronger individual. Till the Initial stages of my graduation days, I used to have ‘conversation anxiety’. To make it clear, it is separate from Glossophobia. While Glossophobia means fear of public speaking, ‘Conversation anxiety’ simply means fear of making a conversation, be it simple talks in friendly group, conference call, sales pitch, viva , job interviews, sales pitch, interaction with clients or authoritative figures. This anxiety often resulted in panic and then in some cases ‘selective mutism’. But I knew being in Engineering field and getting into a corporate job, one basic criterion one need to tick is smooth communication. I believe that it is possible to overcome any challenges, but the first step should be actually admitting that you have the problem. Once a person accepts his problems, then only he can work towards betterment. I made up my mind to work on my anxiety and started diligently going through multiple JAM sessions, Group discussion among my comfortable set of friends. Also, watching English series helped me to overcome my fear of speaking to a great extent. Facing a group of people was never an issue for me as I am a performer (dancer), so all I had to do is work on my conversation anxiety. A lot of exposure of public speaking sessions and English series helped me break apart the chains of my anxiety and now I feel I am a much better approachable person and I don’t shy away from conversation anymore. This has helped me in cracking my very first job interview via campus placement, handle multiple clients on daily basis and now finally in a reputed MBA college to realize my dreams. I believe in order to realize one’s dream, one should concentrate on their weakness on micro level and work on them towards betterment.
