You walk past any construction site in India, you will find cement from Ultratech. You walk through any market in India, you will definitely find yourself looking at clothes from Van Heusen and Louis Philippe. You hear your elders talking about wealth management and availing life insurance, the only name on their lips is Aditya Birla Capital. The one thing in common between all of these ‘brands’ is that they’re all owned by the Aditya Birla Group. In their journey, which started long back in 1857, Aditya Birla Group has become synonymous with perfection and strength. The one obvious question that pops up immediately is “what makes ABG so successful?”. There’s only one simple answer to this and that is vision and execution. An organization as big as ABG cannot get to where it is now without having a visionary leader, someone who is well aware about his social responsibilities as well as how to make a business grow. All ideas in the world will turn fruitless without a structure, a vision and correct execution of the idea. Another thing worth noticing is that the Aditya Birla Group is not just an organization which focusses solely on profits, they are equally aware about their social responsibilities and the fact that they owe a lot to the community as well. They run around 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals, 56 schools and have even trained over 96,000 people in varying skill sets. The Aditya Birla Group has left an indelible mark on my life, it has shown me what ‘running’ a business should actually look like, shown me how building communities and helping each other is the only way forward and how no organization is complete without the positive intervention of a leader.
