The success of the Aditya Birla Group (ABG) in transforming underprivileged communities through sustainability initiatives is the highlight for me.
From ABG, Hindalco (Aditya Aluminium, Utkal Alumina, Hindalco Renukoot, Birla Copper, Lohardaga mines and Kathautia coal mines); Grasim (Indian Rayon, Veraval, Jayashree Textiles); UltraTech (Gujarat Cement Works and Dankuni Cement Works); Essel Mining Barbil; and Idea Cellular; participated in the event.
HealthCube, a project powered by Idea Cellular, has been providing quick diagnostic tests with quality results at approximately one-tenth of the market cost. Using HealthCube, over 1.6 lakh diagnostic tests have been conducted with over 1 lakh beneficiaries. Idea also showcased the layout of DURGA, India’s first women-owned solar module manufacturing unit, at the event.
Economic development through entrepreneurship formed the core of Aditya Aluminium and Birla Copper Dahej’s sustainability initiatives. Teaching women marketing techniques and helping them become entrepreneurs had helped women in rural communities supported by the company, earn steady and secure incomes.
Aditya Birla Group currently stands as one of the major international conglomerates influencing millions of lives with its umpteen array of brands. One of my first exposure to the Aditya Birla Group was when I came across Ultratech Cement, the brand which has literally helped build the nation. Not just construction, rather Aditya Birla Group has made its presence felt in almost every walk of life. From telecommunication and textile to financial services and agriproducts, Aditya Birla Group has touched lives of millions of the people including mine. And it plans to continue working towards its mission:
