Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
With Big brands to its credits, the Aditya Birla Group truly deserves the spot it holds as India's #1 Fashion Lifestyle Entity. It altogether hosts India's largest fashion network with over 8000 points of sale in over 700+ cities and towns which include more than 2000 exclusive ABFRL brand outlets.
As far as I can recall, brands such as Forever 21, Van Heusen and Pantaloons were my go-to hubs for any kind of wardrobe change. Affordable clothes with assortment of gorgeous designs and great quality, forced me to visit the shops every other month.
Part B: How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life?
While working as a Business Consultant at Sapient, I was handling 3 programs simultaneously, across a globally distributed team in the US, Ireland, and China.
Being the only offshore resource, shared among and reporting to 3-4 clients, all operating in silos, time and expectation management became a serious challenge. Each client would invariably assume that I was solely working on his/her assignment at a given time and would give me very tight deadlines. Managing multiple assignments from different stakeholders with overlapping deadlines was getting difficult to cope with despite working very long hours.
In order to tackle this issue, I decided to initiate sending a consolidated weekly list to all the stakeholders giving details of all the tasks I was involved in and the priority order in which I was planning to take them up.
This solved my problem to a large extent as each individual was now aware of the tasks I was working on and the time required for each one of them. This not only helped shape their expectations but also improved the deadlines associated with my tasks.
The two important lessons I learned from this experience were:-
1. You cannot please everyone every single time so, it is better to be upfront and honest about any limitations that there may be.
2. While working in an organization, It is important to manage expectations and have complete transparency on the priority order one is assigning to the different assignments at hand.
