Understanding IIM Amritsar's 2021 Admission Policy In Three Simple Steps
IIM Amritsar's 2021 admission policy can be broken down into three simple steps. First, candidates are screened based on the minimum overall and sectional CAT cut-offs set by the institute. Then, candidates are shortlisted for the PI round based on a weighted composite score that is calculated by considering a candidate's CAT 2021 score, academic profile, work experience, and gender diversity. Finally, after the PI round, the final shortlist is created by again calculating a weighted composite score that takes into account a candidate's pre-PI and post-PI composite score. Here's a simple breakdown of these three steps in IIM Amritsar's 2021 admission policy.
Step 1 - Screening Candidates Based On CAT 2021 Minimum Cut-Offs
The table below indicates the minimum performance expected from candidates to be shortlisted for the PI round. The first stage of the process is applied to all eligible candidates who appear for CAT 2021 to determine candidates to be called for PI.

Step 2 - Shortlisting Candidates For PI Round By Calculating Weighted Composite Score
For all the shortlisted candidates based on the minimum CAT 2021 cut-offs set by IIM Amritsar, the weights for calculating the composite score to shortlist candidates for the PI round are captured in the table below. This is the pre-PI score, and candidates will be ranked in order of merit based on their pre-PI score. From the ranking list prepared, a reasonable number of candidates will be called for PI based on the order of their rank.

Step 3 - Creating The Final Shortlist Based On Weighted Composite Scores
After the personal interview round has been completed, candidates will be further shortlisted based on a weighted composite score. Calculation of the composite score will take into account a candidate's interview performance, work experience, gender diversity and academic diversity. This is the post-PI score. A candidate's CAT 2021 score will not be in consideration for this round of the selection process.

Pre-PI scores and post-PI scores will be used cumulatively in the final step to select candidates for IIM Amritsar's MBA program. The aggregate score for each candidate is calculated based on the following formula - Aggregate Score = 0.6 * pre-PI score + 0.4 * post-PI score. This implies that a candidate's pre-PI score will have a 60% weight in the admissions process, while the post-PI score will have a 40% weight. The final ranking list of candidates for admission to the MBA 2022 program will be based on the aggregate score calculated.
