Also Check: Top Consulting Firms in India | InsideIIM SurveyThis is a powerful indication of campus quality in the eyes of the world's most prestigious and selective strategy consulting firms. The MBB firms don't compromise on the quality of candidates they recruit. They target the 'cream of the cream' a.k.a. the best of the best at each of these campuses. While there may be more MBB-quality candidates at an IIM-A versus one of the others, each of them does have their share of MBB-quality candidates. (E.g., BCG made 20 offers at IIMA but 10 offers at XLRI) This is an important fact that the recruitment heads at each of these firms will confirm - it's not just an 'ABC' that has that candidate quality - but then anyone who has worked alongside graduates of ABC and any other top business school in the same company will know this. It's not entirely surprising that three new campuses joined this exclusive MBB club this year - the fourth IIM (IIM Lucknow), the fifth IIM (IIM Kozhikode) and XLRI have all had McKinsey and BCG recruiting over multiple years. Bain expanded its campus list this year and these three campuses were the only ones (other than IIMs ABC and ISB) that have shown an enviable track record of having multiple alumni go on to become Partners at the most prestigious of the three - McKinsey & Company a.k.a. 'the Gods of Strategy'. Placement reports miss a lot of nuances and can be a bit misleading at times. Several other campuses claim to have some of these firms but it's important to understand the full story, for example: - Bain's research arm Bain Capability Center recruits separately from Bain & Company for a completely separate career track and they went to MDI Gurgaon and IIM Indore - McKinsey *participated* in SP Jain's placements for an Implementation role, again a completely different career track from the strategy consulting track. - McKinsey *participated* in placements at FMS but made ZERO offers as no student could convert their process, which means FMS has got no offers from McKinsey for the last four years - a strong indictment of student quality at FMS versus the other 7 campuses mentioned above. Editor's Note: Verification from the FMS Placement Committee reveals that McKinsey made an offer at FMS Delhi. The institute has also furnished Team InsideIIM with the name(s) of the student(s) hired by McKinsey & Co. You can check out their detailed FMS Placement Report here. *The opinions expressed in this publication are those of the author.
