When I started from my home for IIM Udaipur, I was anxious about the campus life here. Given that the institute is still within ten years of its inception, I was unsure about campus.
But as I reached the campus, I saw amazed by the size of the campus. IIM Udaipur has a 300 acres campus, one of the largest and best among IIMs. It is developed by Balkrishna Doshi, winner of Pritzker Prize for 2018. Hills and beautiful landscape surround the campus. It is around 10 Km away from the city. The campus has been designed like the forts of Rajasthan, connecting it with the local culture. Although the construction of campus is still under progress, it has all the facilities like classrooms, hostels, mess, conference, gym, auditorium, etc. As Udaipur is known as ‘City of Lakes’ construction of three lakes is in progress, these lakes will be interconnected. The campus will meet all the water requirements by itself.
One unique thing about the campus is the way it has been built on hills; we enter the academic block from the 6th floor, and the hostels are on one side, and faculty houses are on another side. Therefore it serves as a meeting point for education and academic excellence.
The campus is designed to be a green campus. GRIHA has awarded it a 5star rating. It is developed to minimize energy usage, and a solar farm has been set-up to be self-reliant for power. Solar water heaters are being used in hostels. Waste-management plants are being constructed to process and recycle waste.
Classrooms are acoustically designed. There is a world-class auditorium, and a common space for meeting and functions is built. The library will be developed according to the best practices in the world. We have hostels that are very well-built and equipped with all the essentials. As of now, two first-year students share the hostel rooms, and second-year students have separate rooms, once construction is completed every student will have their rooms. The mess can accommodate a large number of people. It is very easily accessible from all the hostels and serves as a meeting point. A sports complex with all the outdoor and indoor sports facilities is coming up. The gym is excellent and has all the necessary equipment. There are common seating areas to converse and work on group projects. There are a TV room and a music room for leisure.

Also, given the presence of ABCL the scope of the work will be huge therefore I will be able to impact the lives of many people positively. ABCL has hugely experienced and skilled workforce, and I will learn a lot from them. ABCL also employs best practices of business, and therefore they are market leaders, and I want to learn and be part of these practices.
