As the academic calendar of b-schools draws close, one more batch of MDI-Gurgaon is all set to take the plunge into their professional careers. For the purpose of this article, some of the graduating students were asked few questions when they have visited the campus on the eve of convocation held on 16th March.

The 28th Convocation Day at IIM Lucknow
They all were delighted with high spirits. Dressed in formals, they were standing in queues to receive their diploma. They were smiling and crying at the same time, cherishing the last moments inside the campus. The convocation of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow saw 658 students being awarded their diplomas by Dr. Devi Singh, Director IIM Lucknow and Shree Deepak Parekh, Chairman, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (HDFC) who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Charles De Gaulle once very famously questioned, “How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of cheese?”-a gastronomically and politically loaded question. Something very similar can be said in the context of India. And when you are in a meritocratic B-school like XLRI, you experience a mini-India with representatives from all states, in a student body of less than 600. In reference to the college, I take the liberty of framing a similar question, “How do you homogenize a student body that comes from 28 states and speaks multitudes of different languages?”
