Summer placements can be overwhelming. There are tonnes of things to research on, mock GDs, practice tests, and HR questions to prepare for. Wouldn't it be nice to hear from someone who not only got into your dream company but also cracked the PPO?
The story goes that, in the good old days of XL, students who used to be up at night working on their project spent their time scanning journals and reports for hours in the library. Wanting direction, they were not afraid to seek it from the professors, even at 2 AM in the night! Throwing pebbles at the windows of Fr. Ozzie, a legendary professor of XLRI, was not as rare as you might think. They used to call him down and discuss their findings until the wee hours of dawn! Such was the bond of professors and students, reminisces Fr. Ozzie, with a sparkle in his eye, and a satisfied sigh.
What makes a dewy morning at IIM Lucknow even better? A jam session with 3.4.
Imagine this scene: it is pouring cats and dogs outside. The class is divided into the pahari folks who just cannot fathom how many clouds it takes to make this much rain; and the coastal babies who feel quite joyful looking at the rain. You are also just coming to terms with how many subjects you have (in the third week you may be surprised at some professor walk in and then realise that he takes a class for you that you have forgotten about!)
Wake up, but for that, you would have to sleep. Welcome to the world of sleep-deprived homo sapiens, who run around doing something. If they install a barometer inside a B-School, it might burst, such is the pressure here. All to-do lists and calendars come to life here, the number of groups in WhatsApp increases exponentially, mobile phones keep buzzing as people get constantly bombarded by group messages. Assignments and group projects take time away, classes and tests take the rest away.
Life at a business school is a lot more than just assignments, deadlines and academics - there is so much more going on within the four walls of a management institute.
The academic diversity of a business school is broadly viewed through two lenses - that of a recruiter looking to diversify his workforce, and that of an aspirant preparing for competitive exams, hoping to enter the B-School of her dreams.
