"I’m not uncertain." This frequently used statement on Wall Street is used by traders to indicate a sure shot profitable bet on a financial asset trade. They never say “I’m certain” as that would indicate zero risk – and there is no such thing as a riskless investment. Even instruments backed by governments can result in a loss, as seen by the negative yields on sovereign bonds.
Recently, a friend recounted an experience he had. On a recent visit to Tamil Nadu, their travelling group was mulcted by policemen for carrying liquor in their car. I am not sure if it is illegal to carry a sealed bottle of liquor in one’s vehicle for one’s private consumption.
My summer internship with Azim Premji Foundation was by no means the typical MBA internship. Neither was the office your typical glass and concrete abomination of a building. When I started on the 4th of April, 2016, I had difficulty in locating the office because it was like a small green haven at the far end of the massive Wipro Sarjapur campus. From the moment I entered at 8.30 am, I could sense this place was different. In the course of my two month internship, I found out that the people were also quite different.
Educational life has several stages, right from kindergarten to post-graduation and further. We keep on changing institutions at each stage and graduating from them. Completion of one stage leads to the onset of another. In this walk of educational life, we become associated with many institutions and become an ever-lasting member of it. We may or may not be in constant connect with our alma-mater but somewhere within us the values, the learnings and that emotional connect lies. In a country where more than 60 lakh children are uneducated and do not get the opportunity to study, I consider myself very lucky to have been born to such parents who have nurtured me right from my birth till date and have provided me with best of the facilities. They have provided me with best education, best of all needs and necessities in life. I am very proud to say that the institutions to which I have been associated throughout my life are some of the country's most renowned institutions and are known for their quality education, eminent alumni and high standards. I am currently pursuing my PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad where I am a first year student. I have done graduation in Economics Honours from one of the most eminent, reputed and well-known colleges of the country, Presidency University, Kolkata erstwhile Presidency College Kolkata. I have sat on the same benches and studied in the same classrooms as Mr. Amartya Sen, Dr. Bimal Jalan, Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattarcharya amongst others.

Joining IIM Nagpur just after completion of my degree in Mechanical Engineering I was very delightful to meet new peers and enter another exciting phase of my life- A career in Management and of course, at an IIM. Getting selected to work for Excellon Software for the Summer Internship programme was a great opportunity for me. Being a fresher, and that too in Mechanical Engineering, it was a mix of two kind of emotions for me: Excitement of working first time in a professional organisation and uncertainty of working in a very new field to me. However, marketing being one of my areas of interest, the role as a marketing intern was going to be an exciting task.

I was very apprehensive about joining a year old IIM. In the beginning everyone had similar doubts, after all there was not much on which we could gauge the excellence of the institute. However, this mindset changed when I started interacting with the seniors and my peers. When you are surrounded by people who are confident enough to start a legacy which will echo for numerous years to come, you know you’re at the right place.
