A journey through life - TAPMI

A journey through life - TAPMI

As a student I was very academic and focused right from my early school days. I have been very disciplined in my studies and this justifies my score always being at the top of the ladder. But I was a bit introvert in nature and I was reluctant to get out of my comfort zone. Right through my undergrad days I was focused academically but I was afraid of taking on uncertain challenges. Then I got placed in TCS in the campus drive and I had to start my journey as a professional. As soon as I stepped into the corporate world the reality hit me; I found that I have to step out of my comfort zone, I have to make new contacts and acquaintances and I need to be ready to tackle new challenges. Then and there I decided to put efforts and address these issues head on.

Peter England - Father's Favourite Brand, TAPMI

Peter England - Father's Favourite Brand, TAPMI

Since my childhood, I have always looked up to my father. Observing and learning how he walks to how he holds spoon. I tried to imitate all his subtleties. I try to behave like him as much as I could like copying his use of certain words without knowing their exact meanings. Trying out his shirts, sweaters and shoes were my favourite past time. Although, as I grew up, I noticed that all my father’s shirt said only one brand ‘Peter England’. Shopping for his shirts is always been a troublesome event for both me and my mother. Irrespective how good a shirt might be, he’ll always choose ‘Peter England’. On asking he’ll say that he trusts the brand so why go for another brand. I never agreed with my father. My juvenile mind was too small to understand his choice.

Remembering Our Roots- TAPMI

Remembering Our Roots- TAPMI

During the early days of my life, my family was in a financial crisis and coming from a middle-class family, I was always little thrifty on my spending as I have seen my parents struggle to keep me and my brother properly furnished and they have tried their very best to keep us out from knowing our financial struggles and situation. This part of my life has created a significant impact on my future. This gave me all the reason to study and achieve great things in my life. I have worked hard and placed myself in the top 3 percentile of the students who attempted engineering entrance exam of our state and this got me a seat in the oldest university of our state (Andhra University) which was a dream college for many. I was delighted with the fact that I am not burdening my parents with my education fees as the tuition fee for the college was 10,000 per year and this was the least I could do something for my parents In return. After successfully pursuing my engineering, I got myself a job in one of the top MNC’s and it was the proudest moment for me and my family. I felt very grateful that God gave me an opportunity to show my gratitude. After a lot of thinking I have decided to pursue MBA which was quite a big decision for me and my family and by God's grace we are financially secure and my parents supported my decision facilitating me with the opportunity to pursue an MBA in a premier B-School. Lastly, I want to end this by sharing an important lesson I have learned in my life which is, that we should always remember the roots that we came from and the struggles we faced.

Major Challenges I Have Overcome In Life - Rushi Shah, TAPMI

Major Challenges I Have Overcome In Life - Rushi Shah, TAPMI

It is about the time during my first year of under graduation. I had met a major accident, where in my left arm broken from the elbow joint. It was not clear, till the surgery on my left arm was completed, whether my left hand would function normally. Luckily, it turned out that with an implant in my left arm, I could use it normally but with one exception. I can never lift heavy weights with left arm. I started going college within two weeks after surgery was done against doctor’s suggestion. I still had plaster on when I started going to college. One and half month later, the plaster was removed from my left hand. The fracture got completely recovered. But I was shocked to discover that I was not able to move even a finger of my hand. It was tennis elbow. It took ten months of physiotherapy to recover to normalcy. Despite having an option to take rest for a month or two after surgery(parents and doctors suggesting the same), I chose to return to college within two weeks so that my studies are not harmed. I discovered my new side during this phase, the realization of the importance of work in one’s life irrespective of severe challenges. Qualities like patience, tolerance, determination and optimism helped me in attending my college despite having a tennis elbow for almost a year after surgery.

How I Overcame My Social Anxiety To Achieve All My Goals! - Krithika Kamath, TAPMI

Ever since I was a child I had social anxiety. I was introverted and didn’t talk to anyone as I feared that I would be judged if I express my opinion. I spent most of my childhood lonely without any friends. The only person I spoke to was my grandfather. I could easily articulate my thoughts to him and could talk to him about anything and everything.

While working in my last company (Jacobs Engineering India Pvt ltd) I got a chance to work for Aditya Birla Grasim Project of Caustic Soda Expansion in Rehla Plant. In this project, I got a chance to sub lead process department for the very first time and it was the turning point of my life. It helped me to develop myself as a leader, developing strategies and managing team to release all documents as per the schedule to meet project requirement. This project helped me to gain leadership and mentoring qualities. I am glad to be a part of Aditya Birla family indirectly.

My Journey So Far - Sanjana Bail, TAPMI

At the very early stage of my life, adaptability and an open mindedness towards change were infused in me. Since my father had a transferrable job, it gave me a delightful opportunity to stay in various parts of the country. Living in different geographies and mixing with different cultures of India had a major role in grooming my personality. This exposure instilled in me the confidence to face new things in my life and experiment different challenges without any hesitation.
