Part A - Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?

People go through every day with various different products the whole day and yet not know its impact on their life. However, sometimes things happen, miracles happen and it is etched in our memory for a lifetime. Such an event happened with me too. A few years back when I was posted in Pune, a friend of mine fell sick. She was suffering from the worst pain in her stomach and we did not know what was wrong with her. We searched for a lot of doctors but could not find anyone who could tell us what had happened. It was very late at night and most of the doctors had left for the day or busy with other patients. Finally, we found a doctor who was willing to check her out. He called us to the hospital for a full checkup. He was a doctor of Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital. Turns out my friend had an infection in her appendix and was in a critical situation. Had we not gotten her to the hospital in time, things would have been very serious. She could even have gone into a coma. However, the doctor took her to the operation theater immediately and we waited there in the hospital the whole night. We informed her parents and prayed the whole time. After two hours, the doctor came and told us everything is fine. Only after that, we could relax. And this is one of many incidents that have affected not only my life but so many others as well.

Allen Solly, Van Heusen, Peter England – these are the brands synonymous to all things formal. How many times we take out our formal shirts, wearing them with hope in our heart that I will get through this interview today. Even though our talents are a big part of what makes us click with the interviewer, our attire also plays a significant role in defining our personality. And, I can proudly say that Aditya Birla Group is the reason, I got into IIM Ranchi

An Idea can change your life” – we have heard this tagline numerous times in advertisements. But it is true in a literal sense for me. When I got the news that I got selected in one of India’s premium B- schools, the first thing anyone would do is call their parents to share the good news. That’s what I did. To hear the happiness in my parents’ voice, that day was the happiest day of my life.

Part B - How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?

What is life without challenges? Everyone has faced their fears to achieve their goals. I too had faced many fears in my life to achieve something meaningful.  The biggest fear in one’s life is the fear of failure. The fear of letting my parents down. Not being good enough. That kind of fear tends to cripple us and do not let us achieve our full potential. The defining moment is when we overcome these fears and do not let them rule our lives.

One such incident happened when I was in my second year in under graduation. I had a gall bladder stone. I did not know that in the beginning though and it was diagnosed very late. Due to which I suffered a lot of chest pains which was overwhelming. My semesters were near and I couldn’t study a bit because of the unbearable pain. Eating food became a nightmare because each time I ate something, the pain started. However, even in the pain, all I could think of was I will let my parents down if I fail my exams. For the first few weeks, I was paralyzed with pain and fear of failure. I went to the doctor and he said that I will need to undergo an operation to get rid of the stone. My semester exams were just around the corner and I had to decide whether I should go through with the procedure now and get rid of the pain, which will hamper my exams or bear with the pain and complete my exams and then go the operation. In the end, I decided to overcome the fear of letting my parents down, the fear of failure. I went for the surgery. It took 4 days of complete rest. Then I came back and gave my exams. I fought back with all my might I had and gave my best in the exam. And even though that year my marks were not great, I was happy that I was not crippled by my fears. That was a lifelong lesson for me and I incorporate it in every challenge that I face. I do not let fear to govern my decision.
