1. HR based questions
2. Domain-based questions
3. Situational-based questions.
1. HR-based question:- This bucket is of utmost importance, it helps to drive your interview in which you want. Following were the questions that were asked in my case. (here P denotes panel and M denotes me)
P: Tell me about yourself
M: mentioned in well-rehearsed answer including the tasks that I did in my schooling, 12th, and undergrad.
P: Why do you want to do an MBA
M: here I tried to correlate my commerce background with my goal and how the MBA will help to achieve that goal
P: (next question as obvious) what are your short term and long term goals
M: talked in brief and at the end, the panel was convinced
P: Why do you want to choose Lucknow over other IIMs
M: mentioned about my seniors who were already there and about Lucknow specific
2. Domain-Based questions:- In this section, I would suggest going through at least 2 subjects. Sometimes panel asks like, what is your favorite subject and the next question is obviously related to that subject. It happened with me in my IIM Ranchi interview, ( where I chose HRM subject and questions were like, what are the different types of leadership, difference b/w training, and development, how can you improve the morale)
(as a commerce graduate, the following questions were asked from me)
Q: What is Cash Flow Statement and how do you prepare
Q: difference b/w trial balance and balance sheet
Q: how do you calculate the GDP
Q: What are the assumption and exception of the Law of Demand
In my Calcutta interview, they asked me to solve a base conversion question and other related to the arithmetic question
In my Calcutta interview, they asked me to solve a base conversion question and other related to the arithmetic question
3. Situational-based questions:-Since my interview was during the lockdown, one question was, did you watch the Ramayana, and the next question was what were your key learnings from it. Other questions were related to my hometown, like what were the major crops that were grown in your area.
In my Kozhikode interview, they asked me to describe a painting that was hanged on the wall. Other questions like,
Q: What is the rank of India on the happiness index and how to measure it
Q: name the five port of India
Q: name the 5 river
Pro tip: stay calm and confident. If you don’t know the answer or not sure about the answer, don’t hesitate to accept it.
ALL THE BEST
