IIM Shillong. The name itself inculcates a sense of grandeur. Joining an IIM was always a dream of mine. Getting into the campus in clouds has been a whole other sense of achievement. It all started with CAT like how it was for everyone else. But my journey has had its share of ups and downs, both during the preparation for the exam as well as the interview. From doubting if I would get a good score to converting IIM Shillong, it has been a rollercoaster from the start. Having heard a lot about IIM Shillong from a relative who also graduated from here, I had my heart set on this B-School.
The professional and personal development that this institute would provide me is what attracted me the most. One of the fastest growing IIMs, this institute has won many prestigious corporate competitions such as RAXA Business Case Competition, TATA Steel’s Steel-A-Thon, YES Bank Transformation Series, apart from scholarships such as the Aditya Birla Group Scholarship as well as the YES Bank Aspire Scholarship.
Apart from the academic rigour and professional opportunities, IIM Shillong is also giving me an opportunity to give back to the society under Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s legacy, through Nurturing Minds. It aims at teaching and touching lives of young, under privileged students to facilitate better learning, foster self-confidence and improve academic performances. The volunteers use innovative teaching aids and developed infrastructure facilities of the college to connect with the locals and assist the young minds to think effectually and mentor them to perform better. Having been a part of a similar program during my school years, it is an honour to continue to do so under Dr. Kalam’s teachings. This institute is providing for an all-round development which is exactly what I need.

The ABG company I would like to join is Aditya Birla Capital Limited. It is one of the biggest financial services players in India. It ranks among the top 5 in fund managers in India. Being from the finance background, I feel this company is the perfect fit for me. It has a strong presence across different financial services giving me a variety of opportunities in the corporate world. It will provide me the right exposure that is needed at this stage of my career. The vision of the company to be a leader, role model and an integrated player resonates with me. Thus, I would like to be a part of Aditya Birla Capital Limited.
