Punctuality is of utmost importance in any B-school but it is extremely difficult to wake up on time, especially when you were struggling the entire night to complete your assignments. The bed seems too comforting and the alarm clock is never potent enough to carry you away from the arms of slumber. The only hope is that a Samaritan will come running to your room, reminding you of the consequences of missing the class. You are not supposed to leave your hostel wing before ensuring everyone is awake and ready for the session. The onus of every individual lies on the entire batch and this is what makes my campus unique.
The concept of a family away from home is something that is inculcated from the day you step into the campus. None of the rooms in the entire hostel wing has a lock because trusting your batchmates is of paramount importance here. Sessions scheduled on short notice and assignments given with extremely tight deadlines are a common occurrence, but the support of your batchmates and seniors will empower you to face every challenge and impediment. Late in the night when you are mentally and physically exhausted, a mail to the batch about special food being cooked in a room suddenly brightens the mood and gives you a much-needed break.
The most unique thing about this campus is the magical synergy between the clouds and the campus in clouds. On the day of Janmashtami, the eagerness to smash the “Handi,” hanging high in the sky was palpable among the participants. The music fuelled the enthusiasm, and the race to finish first between the seniors and juniors intensified the competition. The human pyramids were constantly bombarded with water and the mood was set, and everything seemed perfect except for the fact that one crucial element was missing, the rain. Everyone wanted the clouds to be generous again to add boisterousness in the celebrations, and sure enough in a matter of a few minutes, the clouds came to our calling.
The thought of being away from my family on the day of Diwali was scarier than I thought it would be but never had I imagined that festivals in a B-school can be so much fun. The entire batch, along with professors and their families perform the rituals and celebrate. The entire campus is lit with lights and participants ensure that every corner of the hostel is lit with mud lamps. The chefs of the batch cook a special dinner with the help of mess employees for the everyone. The vim, verve, and excitement in the campus will make you forget that you are not at home for the most important festival of the year.
So, what makes my campus unique? It is not my campus but a home away from home.
