In Sanskrit "gu" means dark and "ru" means light.
In the first week of my IIM Shillong, the journey towards the light started with a lecture by Dr. Sanjoy Mukherjee. My grandfather always told me “A person who does not see light cannot guide you”, in this I felt the light that I was searching for my whole life for. The professor quoted the Vedas, Purathanas and Ramayana and explained what a student takes away from this story. The whole lecture felt like a journey through space-time and a reality that alters my vision of what it means to be a student. He explains what it takes to developed and evolve into a great leader. The way he quoted about Napoleon, Ravindra Nath Tagore, Buddha, Satyajit Ray and connect the unconnectable dots and translate them into a pure golden nugget of knowledge. The expression in his face shows the passion and love one has towards the noble profession of teaching. As his words echoed in the auditorium and weight of words started to sinking in me and charged me up to be a best versions of myself.
